Hi, when my husband was on around $50,000 I couldn't get any centrelink assistance for studying and that was approx 2 years ago. I'm not sure whether the threshold would have gone up but $80,000 for just hubby's income is probably a little high to also get Austudy as it's both income and assets means tested.
unfortunatly, like me, you would be not entitled to it.
my DH is on around $60k.
hence why as much as i want to, i cant study, we cant afford daycare fees x2 while im not working :(

Hi, I've just checked the Centrelink website and to receive a part payment of Austudy your income needs to be less than $929.00 a fortnight & to get the full amount you can't earn over $236 a fortnight. It's a payment that's designed for fulltime students who have very little or no income coming in whilst studying.
I did though qualify for an extra 25 hours of CCB per week so I got 50 hours instead of the usual 24 but nothing extra from Centrelink.
This is the link to that page on the Centrelink website

Hope this info helps :)

Hi there
Nope sorry as far as my knowledge goes - your DH income would be way too high to qualify you for Austudy - as it goes on your and DH income and assets. You won't receive anything extra at all. But do check out the centrelink website when it is up again.
Good luck with your study! :)
ok i thought that was the case i just wanted to make sure. yes things are hard with me studying instead of working but were hoping in the long run it will all be worth it!!!:)

Sorry in advance for hijacking your thread gggmama :p
QTB - we couldn't afford for me not to work either. I study part time distance education through CQU. Have you looking into that option? I know other uni's have similar programs too. Just a thought :flowerz:
