Is is bad to let baby sleep on their swings??
Sometimes, i let my DD sleep in her fisher price swing during the day but it just occured to me, that it could be a bad thing? Her naps during the day are mainly cat naps, her long one she'll have in her bed and at night definitely in her bed too..

She has a flat head so i figured that by letting her lie in her swing, she is not putting direct pressure on the right side of her head as she is slightly sitting up..

let me know your thoughts/opinions etc...

TIA

Hi... I think it's fine! I did it with mine during the day also and had no problems with them sleeping in their bassinets during the night :)

It was a good way for baby to learn the difference between day and night and sleep accordingly :yelclap:

I never put my babies in their beds during the day.. I figured beds were for night sleep, and the swing/bouncer/sheepskin were for daytime sleep so they knew when they went to bed it was sleep time, not play time!

Personally I prefer my babies to have all sleeps in their cot.

BUT... DS would often only settle in his swing for day sleeps, and DD2 would only sleep in her rocker in the early days because of her reflux.

So, while for me it isn't my first choice, there's also no harm in it.

I wouldn't worry about it.

if it works, use it.

They all get too big for swings eventually. ;)

So don't stress about it. But I'm of the opinion that all of these experts telling us not to make 'rods for our own backs' and not to 'fall into bad habits' are just hogwash anyway.

I've never met a 5 year old who still takes a bottle to bed, still wants to be rocked or fed to sleep, still wears nappies or who still wants to be carried all day.

Enjoy them while they are little  There's really no such thing as a 'bad habit' with a baby... they ALL grow out of it at some stage, some earlier than others, some later, all by school.

I do the same thing!! my DS loves his swing and sleeps in it for his day sleeps and at night sleeps in his cradle. Had no problems so far.

But its nice to know i'm not the only one who does it!

I hired the one i'm currently using but since its due back next week I ended up buying one cos he loves it so much.
