I have a 24 month old, a 3 month old and I am 6 weeks pregnant. I am just wondering if other mothers who have been in a similar situation have had any difficulties associated with the pregnancy.

I am looking for information regarding your health whether it be major or minor (such as tooth decay for example).

OR

Did your baby have any problems associated with being born close to his/her sibling.

I am eating very healthy and taking my multivitamin but just want to get some information so I might be able to prevent any problems that may be associated with babies being born close together.

I think you'll be right.
Just defnintely keep up your pelvic floor exercises, and try to use good posture, hold in your abdominal muscles when walking, standing, sitting.

Make sure you get enough calcium and iron.

Good luck!!

Hi there

I had three under 2 and 4 months ie 12 months apart then 15 months apart.

I was diagnosed with subclinical hypothyroidism at 6 weeks during my third pregnancy - that cannot be directly attributed to the close pregnancies, however it is a possibility...who knows...
Thank goodness my ob was very thorough and picked it up before I had symptoms (it was part of his routine screening tests). Low thyroid during pregnancy can cause mental deficit in babies. Low thyroid can be caused by iodine deficiency (however mine wasnt) - make sure you use iodised salt on your food. And get your ob or gp to check your thyroid and urinary iodine levels just to be sure. (there may be a fee for the urinary iodine levels as they are not covered by medicare, from memory).

The only other problem I had was in the last month of preg - my back was terrible due to the stress of being so far out in front, coupled with carrying either of the other two around, putting them in the car, change table etc...it got to the point I couldnt walk without being in pain. I still have some issues now.

I know its hard but really try to look after your back.

The same goes for pelvic floor.

Baby was fine, and still is! The only problem he has, is over-affectionate attention from his siblings occassionally!

Just remember these are only my own personal experiences....you will have your own and they may be very different from mine (I hope, in a positive way!)

Good luck

Mine were 18 months, then 21 months, then 17 months apart. For all but 2 months (up til 3 weeks ago) I have been breastfeeding as well.

I developed symphysis pubis dysfunction with the last pregnancy. That's when the pelvis is relaxed by too much relaxin hormone. and it can be very painful. There is no direct link between me getting this and having many pregnancies close together, but my ob said that it wouldn't have helped. So if you feel any pain in your pelvis, do see a physio asap to rule this out.

Bailey's Mum, I'm really thrilled that you are able to go ahead with this 'surprise' baby. Do rest up as much as possible. That's all I can advise. And best of luck!:sunshine:
