Hi mummys and daddys.

For those of you studying and working, where do you find the time?

I work full time 5 days a week. At the end of each day I'm usually too tired to do any study (and prolly useless doing so if tired) and on the w/ends I'd rather spend it with my family than looking at books and computer screens (unless it's bubhub of course, lol).

How do you fit proper study time in? (and find time to sleep, I love sleep)

btw, I'm studying for my MSCA and then MCSE (IT courses for those that are unsure).

I am in the same boat as you. I am currently studying a Graduate Diploma in Urban and Regional Planning. My husband looks after our 15 month old daughter whilst I work full time and I too find it hard to study at the end of a long day. But there are ways you can get it done. Just got to think laterally.

One method is to finish your duties at work as quickly as you can and then study whilst at work (if you are not being constantly interrupted). You can websurf for sites relevant to your course or you can email your notes to work from home. If it is a quiet day with nothing to do then go straight into the studying. I also bring in some hard copy notes from home and study at lunchtime in the staffroom.

After work go home and play with your kids in the backyard or take them to the park, so you can get some oxygen into your blood, as this will help you feel more energetic later on. After they are in bed then do some more study. On the weekends you can either study for two hours on and then have two hours off or study all morning and then have two or three hours off for lunch and then go back and study some more. Gradually it will become a habit. Every now and then have a weekend where you don't study at all, just rest and have time to yourself.

I found I had to have a routine

Get home from work at 6
Make tea then eat it whilst studying
stop at 8, exercise for 1/2 hour
820pm shower then bed

Maybe make mini goals for yourself?

one assignment then one subject?

I know what you mean though it's jolly hard.
The cold weather helps to keep me indoors to get it done. I can't do it though when it's sunny - it's too nice to be stuck inside.

Also associating it with something else e.g. playing your favourite music and singing whilst typing up assignments can make it more pleasant. Grab one of your pets and put them on your lap.

Or agree to study for 1 hour then have 1/2 hour of bubhub.
