i was talking to my mum about our wedding vows and how we are including DS by giving him a necklace after we exchange rings and saying something along the lines if " we have promised each other and now we promise you to cherish and love and to be the best we can in regards to our life together this necklace symbolises the 3 of us joining in unity"
mum thinks its a bad idea as its ment to be a day for just me and S but DS isnt S's son and he wants him involved. what do you think. any thoughts welcome:yes:

I think it is a beautiful idea.
Go ahead and do it, it's your family's day and that includes your son. My sister and her husband gave each of their boys a very classy compass, I can't remember the symbolism, something to do with the new direction their life was to take or something, but it was a very touching part of their ceremony.

You do what you want to do, this is your day!:D
Yep do it if you want to do it!!
We did a sandpouring ceremony that included all 4 kids(DS4 wasn't in the picture yet). They each got to pour a different coloured sand in and my guests STILL rave on about how great it was now :)
As someone who has unfortunately lost relationships with formerly close family members, it is YOUR day. If you listen to others eventually you will resent not doing things the way you wanted. Just explain to your Mum that it's what DF wants and you are a FAMILY, your marriage affects DS also.
I think it is a beautiful, and very thoughtful idea! DS will always remember the gesture and how important he feels. Good luck with your special day and with your marriage!
