View Full Version : How to remove mould on her pram?
Both my pram and my stroller have black dots/mould on her pram. (like the lining and hood)
i only thought it was a tiny bit but noticed that there is alot of it now, probably because my boot leaks...
So what i want to know is does anyone know how to remove it? i have done a "heavy duty" wash but nothing.
A friend suggested bleach but its black and green so that would take all the colour out.
any suggestions
The only way I know that might work, is to leave it in the sun, but doing that may faid the colour of the pram as well
you may just have to put up with it, or just do what I do, buy another pram

I used a Nutrimetics household detergent and a dishwashing brush to scrub the hell out of my pram one morning, put it in the sun to dry and then brought it inside to fully dry in the air conditioning and it came up a treat... there are still a few minor stains where i couldnt get the mould stain out but its mostly gone.
This was far more effective than my previous attempts using the following products
- diluted milton
- sards wonder soap
- bleach
The product is a pink liquid and i got it from a friend who is a nutrimentics seller.
I guess you could probably use an earth choice floor cleaner (or something similar) to see if it works the same way??
Try and find a cover for the pram if you can, even a sheet of plastic to drape over the pram to prevent it from getting wet.
I used mould away lol. It worked well.. But your pram is black mine was beige so might not work!
Just give it a huge scrub then leave to dry in the sun...
Personally I'd throw both prams out. I'm highly allergic to mould - causes hayfever and asthma in me and I know that mould causes all sorts of allergies and makes lots of people sick. So, for me mould and babies prams do not mix. My parents have a house near the beach and stored a pram in the shed, it got mouldy, so we had to throw it out. Sorry.

I live in the mould capital of Australia I'm sure  so I would love to know
My mum told me yesterday she got the mould out the cloth seat of her walker. She said she diluted bleach with water in a spray bottle, and just sprayed it a couple of times a day (she said everytime she walked past). She said it took a few days, but she says it looks good as knew. The seat is orange, and it didn't fade at all.
So, I'm going to try it, hopefully it doesn't fade on me
bleach will work wonders, it is a marvellous product. If you dilute it and spray it it should be OK...

she isnt affected by it, ive washed the covers of her big pram about 6 times with different things to try and remove it.
throwing them out isnt an option for me as i cant afford a new one:no:

U can kill the mould but the marks may be there forever. Sorry to be a killjoy.
But, if u put some tea tree oil with some water in a spray bottle and give it a squirt and let it dry it should help keep the mould away. Maybe do it once a week. Or whenever it is wet or humid.

I scrub the heck out of mine with a bristle brush with detergengant and water. Then rince and put in sun. Next day i spray white vinegar all over and scrub then put in sun again. It worked.

Try a paste made up of Bicarb Soda and water.
Leave to dry.
Scrub like buggery with bristle and mix of cleaning vinegar & hot water.
Process may need to be repeated.
Good luck.

I've taken it all apart and tried regular clothes detergent, then vinegar wash, then nappysan oxyaction then when dry, salt then lemon and salt, then the borax paste LOL.
I'll try vinegar left on in the sun next

:iagree:
Our pram recently got wet from a storm & wasn't discovered til a few days later after mould had settled in. As the pram is worth $1k, I have claimed it on insurance. When the cleaners came to look at it they told me not to even bother getting it cleaned because they might be able to clean the visible mould spots away, but the spores will still be present. They said they dont like to expose babies/children, who sit for long periods on this fabric, to such nasties.
If the pram is worth a bit, could you claim in on your contents insurance? If not, I agree, I'd throw it out.
