I just wanted vent, as an overweight person, i found it so hard to find clothes that fitted me, while being pregnant, they have maternity clothing for the smaller ladies, but nothing in the plus sizes. I was really offend by this, and hunted high and low, even on ebay.. i lived in my pj pants for most of the nine months, im just wondering if any other mums out there, that are a plus size, had the same trouble, and if not, where did you get your clothes? They think because they have to use maybe half a metre more material they can charge an extra $20. :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

I agree with you. I am a size 22, but I didn't have to hunt for maternity clothes as I didn't put on much weight. I actually lost 25kg. :smiliedance: But still, I am a big girl. I found that maternity clothes only go to an 18. Do they not think that us bigger girls do it and get pregnant. Anyway, if you are looking for some decent, not expensive maternity clothes in bigger sizes, try www.cosmicclothing.com.au They have some great stuff.
All I really did was just bought big girls clothes from target 1 size bigger than I normally get. I hope this helps you. I understand where you are coming from.

I don't know about maternity clothing, but shops like "1626", "My Size" and the like might be able to help. Although those shops always make me feel like poo when I go into them because none of the women behind the counter would even come close to fitting into a size 16 or over!

i was looking for a nice dress to wear to my friends wedding and i was too big for the normal clothes shops but too small for the plus sizes. so i can understand what you are going through. i have the same problem now that i have finished breastfeeding. my boobs have shrunk at little so that my maternity bras are too big and my pre-pregnancy ones are too small. i am sick of the way alot of the nice brands have s**t bras in the bigger "d" size. i was trying to find a nice strapless one to wear under a singlet top as i need a litle support but i can't find anything that isn't over $50. and i refuse to pay that for a bra. why can't we have nice pretty bras with nice patterns and pictures on them like the size 12's.
sometimes i just feel like :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

I Dont know if your in perth or not, but i found a shop in Mt Lawley called the lingere factory, and they actually go up to a size, 28 i think it was... But i have always had trouble getting a bra, that doesnt break, or snap... and i have had the three i bought from there, each $50, for a year and they are still all in good nick. At first i was hesitate in spending so much on a bra, to me, that is alot. But i have gotten the wear out of them, and they are great! Thanks for the website i will be checking that out very soon. I have looked in the my size and 1626, but im 23, i dont want to dress like im 80.. No offence to someone that wears most there stuff, they do have the odd thing i like, but its either too small around the bust, and too long in the arms... argh! I think i might just learn to sew hehe. :smiliedance:

Hello!
Boy do I know where you are coming from! I'm a size 24 and I had the WORST trouble buying clothes when I was pregnant! I think there is a big market out there!!!!
But I have found some little gems which may help:
http://www.sizeappeal.com/SizeAppeal/Default.asp?cookie%5Ftest=1
http://www.bodywise.com.au/
http://www.maternityrevolution.com.au/default.aspx
http://www.ezibuy.com.au/Womens/Sara_(Plus_Sizes).html
http://www.vivaswim.com/
http://www.fashionplus.com.au/page/page/2724798.htm
AND of course cosmic clothing are fantastic!
It just bugs the s*** out of me too, I mean us ladies do expand especially while pregnant so it's strage that there isn't more available. Sometimes you can get lucky and get some from Big W, Target or KMart, but as you mentioned they cost an arm and a leg!

I'm just going to give a plug for Viva swim (which kuz78au gave a link for).
Last Summer I ordered one of their 3 piece swimsuits and it is fantastic!
They're not cheap, but they have an underwire bra, a flattering top & the bottoms (which can fold up or down over the belly).
They're great...

I had a look at the links...
Thanks alot... But if you guys are like me, i hate looking for clothes without trying them on, some stick to ya, some look good in pics but not that crash hot on, some also fit in area's and dont in others...
I give up, i think i am going to start, learning how to sew! Lol

to be honest i wouldnt bother. its around the corner from my house and they seemed to have forgotten with the majority of their clothes that some of us might be bigger but that doesnt mean we want to dress like our mothers
Try Big W, I know I mentioned before, but they have some nice new bigger stuff now out at the moment! I just purchased a whole heap of trackies and they are very fashionable and very reasonable in price. But don't go to the maternity section of Big W....they only go up to size 18! The Plus section or Options section is the place to be

I had given up on Big w, But i might head over there this weekend and have a look, thanks guys, really appericate!
But if any of you DO know how to sew, let me know, Lol

It's funny you should say that as when I went for a job there and I was told I wasn't large enough I am a size 16 - 18 (depending on who makes the clothes)
Crossroads and as mentioned above 1626 and My Size have some lovely stuff. I did just go to Kmart and Target and get 2 sizes above normal as I had the same problem as you guys
damien's mum, (and any one else)
hi there i'm new to this. i hav the same problem u either hav to squeeze in and just pretend u look good or look like a granny. i like u spent my last pregnancy in my pj's or trackdacks and t-shirt. in fact my mumwas preggers at beginning of my pregnancy (but lostit) and she went into mother and me (she is like a size 12 though) and anyway she said oh they're having a sale and they hav some clothes that might fit so i thought ok i'll check it out. off i went to the joondalup store, in i go and the lady didnt even come out from the counter she just looked up then the next minute this other lady walkeed in she looked about a size 10 and was dressed well (i had on a t-shirt and shorts)and the assistant walked right up to her and helped her out. consiquently i walked out. i felt like 'what do u think i'm to fat to wear these clothes or can't afford them or something?' very rude i thought. anyway thats my beef.
so how are u anyway?:( :banghead:

For me.. I hae found that , Yes I am a size 18..will probably hit 20 this pregnancy
But I have found that plus size shops, are to baggy fit on me!! even the 16.. and yet the normal size 16-18(like target and kmart) are just a smidget to tight!!
I cannot win :banghead:
Trust me, It takes my hours to find something..and thats just nice casual
