We are having sleep issues with our 15 month old and as a last resort we were thinking of putting her into a bed. Has anyone found that this has helped???

A friend of mine had sleeping problems with her 14mth old and put him in a junior bed and he was great, his now 22mths and still happily sleeping in his bed.

:fingerscrossed: and :hugs:

It would depend on what the issue is ...

If it's waking up during the night then it may help if she's knocking herself on the cot bars or getting cold because the cot blankets are coming untucked. Beds are roomier and the side bed guards are usually soft nylon mesh. Also bed doonas and blankets are harder to come untucked.

If it's reluctance to go to bed then it may or may not work.

You may find that the new freedom will mean they are up and down like yoyo's and are harder to get to sleep. (one of ours did this and it was a nightmare).

Or you may find that after tuck in, stories and goodnight kisses they are very ready to sleep and are drifting off before the light is out.

It could go either way. :D Good luck !

My 3rd is still waiting for his bed (he's just turned 2 now) as I have a sneaky suspicsion he is going to be a yoyo'er so I'm putting it off for another month or two. (he's an energizer bunny just like his big brother!)

Yep, we had this too. DD went from falling asleep on her own in her cot into an insecure jack-in-the-box in her bed. We did the switch just after she turned 2. I should have been able to predict what would happen, because although she was good at falling asleep on her own in her cot it did often take a long time, with her singing and talking to herself for an hour or more. With the freedom to get up, that hour of self-settling became a nightmare despite a bedtime wind-down routine.

DD is over 2 and still not in a bed. Trying to avoid that day as long as possible. There is no way she would actually go to bed and stay there!

I moved all of mine before the age of 1 to avoid the going to bed issues, but I ended up having them anyway with my oldest. he was 10mths when I moved him into a bed. I tried doing it during the day first, he kept getting up, so I just put him back in the cot. After doing this for a week, I tried a different approach. I put him in the cot at night, then when we went to bed, I moved him from the cot and into a bed. There were no probs after that, the cot came down the following day and he had no probs going down for his day time nap.

Good luck!!
