View Full Version : Strip Wash or something to rid wee smell???
I think I must have left my nappies, one in particular in the nappy bucket for a bit too long and the Cushie Tushie one seems to be STILL stinky even after a few washes.
I have the inserts/boosters in a "super wash" with just omo in the machine right now, but I'm wondering is there anything I can do next with the boosters AND covers to get rid of the wee smell?
All I have in terms of laundry products is Omo and Lux.. but the Lux can't go in my machine because it's a front loader :(
What can I do to get rid of the smell? It doesn't seem to want to go away on the Cushie Tushie, it's driving me nuts!
TIA
Quick, I think I'm on the final rinse cycle

Have you tried simply sunning them? I am hopeless at leaving nappies from day care in a plastic bag which makes them smell ewwww!!! I always find just a good day in the sun works wonders.

I did put the Cushie Tushie outside, but it still seems smelly... I can't remember how sunny that day was though :detective:
The others don't seem to smell for some odd reason.

I would hang it out tonight and leave it in the sun all day tomorrow. I was having similar problems but i brought a clothes horse and chase the sun all day round the yard  I dont have any problems with smells now at all. But yep, you need the full day of sun.
LOL I'm glad you responded, I totally forgot about them :laughing::laughing: the covers are still sitting on the floor PEEWWWWWWWW..
I'll do that then, wash them, then leave them in the sun tomorrow. If tomorrow is anything like today they will be getting loads of sun :D
Great - now the laundry floor smells :barf:
Note to self: do not leave nappies in bucket for a week at a time, then leave them on the laundry floor :geek:
LOL Angike  I hope the full day of sun works for you :)
Hahaha! Thanks tales.. so typical me forgetting the washing lol.
I'm sure it should work, fingers crossed :fingerscrossed:

I'm new to MCNs , but I found a good soaking of sunshine definitely helped!!
..and some bi-carb for your floor..then a go over with the mop with hot hot water & Tea Tree Oil.

Awesome! Thanks for that!
Apparantly shower power doesn't work lol.. I already tried that.
I'm going to do that right now :D
Nah shower power has ammonia in it I think - any ammonia based cleaners probably won't actually remove the ammonia smell. Bi-carb is awesome, and you could also try a bit of vinegar if you don't have tea tree oil.
Thanks ladies - helpful as always. I left the nappies out in the sun for the whole day, even though they were already dry, and it did an amazing job
The bi-carb and tea tree oil also fixed up the smell on the floor, although I think I used too much tea tree because all I could smell for the whole day was the oil
LOL better than old wee smell though :D

Cool:thumbsup: glad it worked...
I lurve the smell of TT oil and vinegar :D..I have a spray bottle of TT oil and water in the toilet..and that's what I use to clean it daily...smells soooo clean.
..am just about to rip open a new laundry powder that is eucalyptus based..will let you know if it helps with the smell in the MCNs.
:goodvibes:
 definitely better than wee smell tales!
5, I just bought some new laundry powder for the MCNs, in hope that it will help poor DS's little rash and sore willy :( but yeah definitely let me know how it goes
I don't mind the smell of the TT oil, but for some reason I cannot stand the smell of vinegar *spews*. I like vanilla & water yummmm...
You have given me another good idea - TT and water in the toilet :p hahaha just move in with me, that'll be easier. I use far too many chemicals!
