I was just cruising bubhub, James has been asleep for an hour and suddenly I hear him SCREAMING - in his sleep! I ran in there in absolute panic and held him and rocked him. He didnt open his eyes, I put him back down and he remained asleep.

It was so scary!! Babies must have nightmares!!! :crying:

I bought him a big flashy fisher price play centre today...maybe all those sounds and coloured lights have done it!!

I reckon they do too. Summer has been screaming in her sleep before it scared the heck outta me but i just held her until she stopped.

It is really scary when that happens. Andrew had them a fair bit when he was younger. Like James, never seemed to wake up, and eventually dropped back into a silent sleep. Very freaky indeed. If you do a search on night terrors, you should find a few other threads about them. Theres not much you can do about them unfortunately!

Wyatt has screamed and talked several times in his sleep. I guess he dreams about his days activities and lil baby fantasies (like having 2ltrs of icecream to himself, lol)

My bub did this for a while a couple of months ago. I got quite frustrated because some people suggested I just leave him to cry - they didn't seem to understand that he wasn't awake when he was doing it. Sometimes he even had his eyes open - but wasn't really responding to either of us until he fully woke up or whatever it was would suddenly stop and he would fall into deep sleep again.

Thankfully it passed - it scared the life out of me more than once!

Definitely - my DS does this quite a lot, sometimes I wonder if he's reliving his traumatic birth :(

His Dr told me that the best thing to do is talk to him calmly and soothe him without waking him up (sounds like you're doing that already).
