Hi,

I'm actually an aussie, but have been living in the UK for some time now and am about to move back to Victoria. As i had my baby in the UK i have no idea how things work in Oz. In the UK we go and see the health visitor regularly for weighing and general advice, provided by NHS. Is there an equivalent in Oz and do you register, or where do you go for help? I'm a first time mum and will be coming out with a 6 month old and feel i will want some kind of advice as i am used to it here and am trying to figure out what is available there. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Its just a matter of finding out who runs the local area health service in the location you are moving to and then going along for a visit for with the CHN whenever you want. Perhaps ring your local council once you move back and ask them for the relevant contact details.

I don't know if it's the same in Victoria, but here in Sydney most suburbs and/or councils have an "Early Childhood Health Centre". At my local one you can either go to the drop-in centre (on certain days) or make an appt to go in and see them at a specific time.
