I am wondering which to go for?
I like the idea of using the nappies for a 2nd child and have read that it may be better to go for the AIO if that's the plan.
The AIO seem pretty simple - just stuff with booster if needed, right?
The picture of the bamboo fitted on their website is what's confusing me - the one that shows how the inserts snap in. It looks a bit like the inserts might move around and bunch up in weird spots? Or am I totally off-base here?
What do you all think of their bulk package suggestions?

I like the idea of getting a bulk package and then lay-by'ing it.
I have been leaning towards the bamboo fitted but have concerns, as I said above.

I really like the bamboo fitteds and they can get a bit confusing with the pictures but I think it is always best to get one of each of the ones you are interested in so that you can have a feel and play around with them. Both the AIO & the Fitted do take a while to dry (purely because of the amount of bamboo in them) but the fitted has all the extra inserts that can be removed, which does reduce the drying time compared to the AIO.
I used the fitted's for my at home, daily type nappy and the AIO as my going out, no fuss nappy.
I would still recommend getting a mixed pack of nappies for a first purchase, as said above, you can really see how they all work. For the ones you don't like you can always swap them for the ones that you do. Darlings Downunder & Nurture Nappies both have good mixed packs.
Good luck with your first purchases, beware it can get quite addictive. Fluffy mail is so very fun!!!

Do you live close to any of the BBH demonstrators? If you do, getting someone to come over and show them to you, and talking about how they use them is a good idea. I got a heap of fitteds to start with, and LOVED them, but now am more of an AIO fan - LOVE my magicalls and itti's. I have a large AIO that DD used for a few months, now DS is using, and will go on to be used for the twins - it's still in fine condition. I have since bought another in the same colour and i can't tell which is the original one - so they sem to wear pretty well. I have a large stash too, soit's used in high rotation! :D
The inserts for the fitteds are really good, because you can sutomise them for tummy sleepers, boys, girls etc. The snap-ins seem confusing, but once you have played about with them and spoken to others about how they use them, they are a piece of cake.

That is a good price for that pack!! If you can I would go for it!
I pretty much do exactly what it says in the pack! I use AIO for day. I have magicalls and itti delish. I also use greenkids in the day.
I use the bamboo fitteds at night with a pul cover...... i tried wollies a few times and didnt like them....
For the first few newborn weeks I used disposables as bubs poo constantly and you cant leave a nappy on over night or for more then an hour or three, so possibly I would swap the newborn magicalls to the small and medium size but otherwise that is a good pack.

Nurture Nappies have a fantastic Baby Beehinds trial pack, on special for $85 (or was it $89?) with free postage.
You get a minky magicall, 2 bamboo fitted, a PUL cover, and a bamboo booster. It's great value. I'm gonna get one myself!

No, I don't. But there is a baby shop which stocks them (2 hrs away!). But I'm heading that way on the weekend anyway so will try and get there to have a look.
I live in a cold climate so would it be better to get more of the hemp fitted as they dry quicker?
Am really leaning towards the fitted rather than AIO due to the price factor.
Any more comments welcome!

But once you factor in covers, it doesn't work out that cheap really.
Honestly, while I LOVE the value of the big pack, EIGHTEEN newborn Magic-Alls are way too many.
Many people prefer a different system for newborns, then move into the sized nappies.
I would personally go AIO, though I personally have a huge mix of AIO's, AI2's and fitteds with covers.
The hemp ones dry a bit quicker, but the bamboo ones seem softer, the hemp ones are quite 'crunchy' but i dont know if thats cos mine are still quite new

Nibble you and I think alike......
If you go fitteds and covers dont forget you need liners as well otherwise bubs is sitting in wet all the time as they dont have a stay dry liner.....
Hemp is crunchy. I personally dont like them very much and they seem to get smelly more then the bamboo....

I haven't had an issue with smell yet, personally.
The older hemp ones definitely are much rougher than the newer hemp fleece ones. But the bamboo is most definitely the softest out of the two.
If you do live in a cold climate though, half air-drying and half electric dryer-ing will make them as soft as they can be. :)

cool!! Im just around the corner.....for at least a few more months until I move to brighton!!
I bought that pack from Nurture Nappies - disappointed they only let me have one! LOL. Thought of signing up under my partner's name and getting another one... but that's just naughty.
I've decided to use bamboo prefolds for night time until my bubby is big enough to use the BBB fitteds. I'm just agonising over what covers to buy for them! LOL. I have one minky magicall and a couple of greenkids anytimes which I'll probably use for going out and maybe overnight as well. I expect I will buy more over time, but this will get me started in the beginning and nicely supplements my terry flats.

I wouldn't worry about getting the newborn sized magicalls- I got 2 and our bub only wore them a handful of times before they were too small.. but she was 4kg when she arrived! I also don't find them to be as absorbant as the itti's. I'd say try one or two of the ones that you like, them you can get more later on.
I agree.....I have one of the BBH newborn Magicalls and it's only just fitting my 11 wk old still. 18 would have been a terrible waste for us!

I have two.
For no other reason that they were on clearance and they're irresistibly cute! :)

the hemp BB fitteds don't seem as absorbent.. i don't really like hemp either

The newer hemp fleece ones are actually quite nice. They do come out much fluffier and softer if they go in the dryer after being line dried though or when they're still a little damp. :)
Not sure about absorbency, they seem to last about the same as my bamboo ones.
Bamboo is much softer though.

greenkids in the day.
i use greenkids at night as well- I use double bamboo inserts and bubs stays so nice and dry!
DON'T FORGET
that you can get good deals on nappies during the nappy hunt so register and then you can use your code for discounts- not sure if you can use them for bulk packs!!
