Hi all
Was wanting to change to MCN for my 14 month DS. Have been looking at getting a couple each of the OSFA bum genius, green kids and issy bear nappies and seeing how I go but am concerned because DS's poos are always very runny, never solid and am concerned about leakage. He also has quite thin legs, so am concerned this may increase leaks if there is a gap around the legs.
What do you think - will these nappies contain the runny poos or am I better to stick to disposables? I want to get OSFA as want to keep them for the next baby and don't want to buy each size.
Also he is a very heavy wetter at night - are these nappies ok at night with extra boosters or do you need the wool covers?
Any advice/tips would be great
Thanks

Most MCN I've heard of contain poo well & skinny legs aren't a problem. I use mostly homemade MCN & not had a problem. For extra security some nappies have leg gussets built in or you can use a PUL cover with gussets. I can't think of any brands off hand, sorry. Liners make disposing of poo heaps easier. You can get flushable ones or make some out of micro/polar fleece
For night time it's generally best to use dedicated night nappies as they have many more absorbent layers with woolen soakers or a fleece cover, both of which need to be lanolised.
I can't talk from experience yet but just what i have picked up reading others posts . Alot of people have had luck using the Greenkids as night nappies because you can stuff them with extra inserts . If they don't work you could try the baby beehinds bamboo OSFA with a wool cover . They seem to be very popular and very well priced .
Make sure you are registered for the nappy hunt ( starting 1st March ) as you will recieve a discount code . Bumgenious have 20% off during the hunt for everyone with the code . Also some of the companys that stock Greenkids have 10 - 15% off during this time .
As for the skinny leg question if you don't have any luck with the front fastening nappies you could try one with side snaps as they allow better adjustment for the legs .

Hi Happycat,
It is difficult with a skinny legged child and poo leaks but I must admit that I find that pocket nappies are probably the worst when it comes to poo leaks. Especially runny poos. Solid poos are ok in pockets coz they tend to stay put. I use GKs and BGs and I think BGs are better for containing poos but my daughter has chubby legs.
I know it's a bit of a bother but fitted nappies with a cover are the best if u worry about leaks. Baby beehinds make a gorgeous OSFA fitted nappy (in bamboo and in lots of different colours) which are also fantastic for newborns. Now that my daughter is 1 I often dont' put a cover for her when we're at home and only put one on when we go out.
Hope that helps!

I've been using Issy Bear Nappies for around 5/6 weeks now and like your baby, my DD still doesn't do solid poos. I have never had a problem with leaks because Issy Bear have elastic at the back and in the legs so it is great for containing those occasional explosions as well! They also are really easy to clean.
What I like about their nappies is that they supply you with the liner that goes into the pocket so you are not buying the liner separately. Their designs are also really cute! Also, because their nappies are PUL, you do not need a separate cover on them.
They also do a night nappy which has a really absorbent booster. If you wanted to though, you could use an extra liner in the pocket.
Talk to Michelle - the lady who runs Issy Bear Nappies. She is really good at giving you information based on your Little Ones needs.
