Hi all,

My apologies if I have posted this in the wrong place.

A while back I caught part of a news program that was discussing a group who volunteered their time to help children with physical disabilities. They would visit the children and their parents, and design and manufacture specific apparatus to help these kids, whether that be to help the kids walk, or even perform tasks such as painting etc.

Unfortunately, I only caught the end of the program, and I have never been able to find the name or contact details for this group, or anyone similar.

I am a young mechanical engineer, and due to the current economic situation have found myself with some spare time. I also have a brother with an intellectual disability. I would deeply love to be able to use these skills to help.

So does anyone know of any organisations in the Sydney area that provide services such as these?

I very much appreciate your help.

Hi,

I am an Occupational Therapist and whilst I do not recall any specific places that cater to children, your best option is to contact your local branch of TAD- technical aids for the disabled and they will let you know what you need to do to register to help them. They are a service that designs/makes equipment for all people with disabilities and would certainly appreciate any help. TAD should be in the phone book.
