i need to clean the windows and sliding glass doors that my very precious daughter decided to slobber all over. what is safe to use to clean them as i don't want to use chemicals like windex.

some ideas would be appreciated.

Also while we are on the subject of cleaning glass. how do you remove the scummy buildup on your shower glass??

I was reading the other day that vinegar and newspaper gets windows sparkling, without the smudge marks that windex leaves behind. Maybe give that a go.

As for the shower, I use Shower Sparkle. You just spray it on after you have your shower, you don't need to scrub or wipe or anything.

Vinegar in hot water with a cheapo microfibre works for me! First couple of times; add a squirt of detergent, this will help reduce the old build up of chemicals (yours may not have any, try this if the vinegar isn't working).

Thanks for the soda tip Martha, you have solved my current problem!

I just use one of those cheap microfibre glass cleaning cloths from Woolies. It was $4 and works great.

When I was preggers we moved so I got a lady in to clean the house, when I went back to look at it I had never seen the mirrors & windows look so clean so I rang her and asked her what she did & I have done it ever since it is fantastic and completely kiddy safe

You get 2 bits of cloth(i use a cloth nappy ripped in 2) put a glove on & run 1 bit of cloth under the hottest water your hand can stand squeeze out the excess water and wipe the glass/mirror with it, leave it for a min then wipe the water off with the dry bit of cloth & then you have very clean streak & finger print free glass :D
I do it to the TV screen as well

A friend of mine, who used to clean windows recently told me to use nothing but a lint free cloth (old cotton t-shirt), water and elbow grease!
He reckons he used to make windows disappear (...back in the old days...), and people thought he used some miracle cleaner on them.

Haven't tested the theory... I use vinegar and newspaper!

Our windows were wet on the inside the other morning so I just wiped over them with a dry cloth nappy. They sparkle now. :D
