View Full Version : Ouch!!!
Hi
I was just hoping someone could tell me what might be going on with this TERRIBLE pain Ive been getting the last 2 days!
I have been dx with PCOS but have never had any pains like this. Its on my left side above my pubic bone and next to my hip bone. Its SO sore! But only when I move...
Is this something to do with PCOS or is it totally unrelated?
If I hadnt already had my appendix out I would swear that would be the problem! :(

are you close to having your cycle?
it could be a large cyst on your ovary, i have had these and they can be VERY painful, the only way to really know if its a cyst is to have an ultasound.
or it could be an ovulation pain, if it doesnt settle down in a day or so i would be going to the DR
I think Im in the middle of my cycle...like where you would normally ovulate...
Dont think I do tho...I know PCOS effects that but am on the pill too so shudnt ovulate...

I'd say it's either Ovulation (I get the same pains myself and have PCOS) or a cyst! I know that you can still Ovulate with PCOS just not as regular or as often :)
Take some panadol or something and hopefully it will get better.

It does sound like a cyst. They can be (and are) very painful. I normally use advil when I get "those" pains.
Thanks Ladies! :)
Just took some nurofen! Hoping its not a cyst as Im living 3 hrs from the nearest Dr/Hospital!

Oh when they discovered I had endometriosis they thought it was appendicitis before that.
I also had a few cysts burst after the corpus luteum didn't disolve after ovulating - that was really painful and worse when I moved and all they could do was give me pain medicine and tell me to use a hot water bottle and it would go away on it's own.
But I'm no doctor just telling you what happened to me.
The best thing to do is get a referral from a GP to see an ultrasound and talk to your GP or Gynie etc.

Aww that sounds like everything Im experiencing...
Might have to make the 3 hr trip to my Dr if im not any better on Mon!
So I still have that TERRIBLE pain! :(
Went to the nearest town with a hospital to do my grocery shopping today and the pain got worse as I was walking around...
So went to the hospital and saw a nurse. She asked 101 questions did a few tests and then sent me on my way with pain killers and told me to go see my GP!
Didnt even see a Dr! The pain killers have done NOTHING! My GP is 3 hrs away and I dont have any sick days left (just started my job and have to build them up!)
So Im hoping the pain goes away over the next day or so because otherwise Im not sure what Im going to do! :(

you poor thing.
I actually ended up at rpa in the early hours this morning because another cyst burst(god long story) but the pain is similar around my left ovary sounds sort of similar tbh.
If the painkillers are not working, and it is still going on, it's probably not ovulation pains and you should go back to a hospital and see a doctor and explain it's been going on and the painkillers are not helping, and that you want an ultrasound - See with the type of cyst that has burst they can't do anything for me, but at least I know my fallopian tube isn't twisted or anything else you know?
It could be many different things but you need to get checked.
Even if it stops, I'd get an ultrasound.
Pain is the bodies way of notifying us that something is up, and best to listen to it.

Thanks Hun! I half expected them to order an ultrasound today! I told them my history and everything and I didnt even see a Dr! I couldnt bleve it!!!
Im thinking that perhaps they dont have ultrasound facilities at the hospital I went to...I dont know!
Will see how I go this week! I really dont want to take any more time off work! But if the pain doesnt go away I think I will have to!
My Mum is a sonographer and she thinks it sounds like a burst cyst. She says theres nothing you can do for them except painkillers and hot water bottle but it would be nice to know whats happening!
I wonder how long the pain lasts for with a burst cyst?

For me, it has ranged from 4 days to 2 weeks, see it depends if it has leaked fluid into the abdominal cavity as having free flowing fluid in your abdomen is also painful.
I've had 3 explode now :(
They gave me endone the second and third time, panadeine forte the first time, it is really painful.
But the other times when I wasn't thinking I could be UTD taking regular naprogesic or naproxen worked well with the panadeine
Do you have nurofen, or even better naprogesic? naproxen sodium I think napro is..? 2 every 4 hour to 6 hours and a hot water bottle changed as often as needed to keep it nice and boiling hot will help relieve the pain a little.
Look after yourself, and def demand an ultrasound, often nurses or doctors can shrug it off as just some kind of period pain 'because you can get so many different types of unexplainable pains'

Every cycle for the last few months I have been having pain also. It started as Ovulation pain but now lasts too long for that. It starts at Ovulation still but will last sometimes until my period.
My Dr told me it happens to some people when I asked for an Ultra sound but I have a gynae appt on Monday so am going to ask him.
