Bit of a silly thread ;),

We were up at the children's hospy yesterday and we saw the feeding therapist (who is also a speech therapist) as well as the OT etc :ecomcity:.

Well anyway a couple of months ago I called the CHN because I wanted to check the reccomended fluid intake for a 18m old and instead of being helpfull she gave me a big long speil about how 18m olds should not have bottles and she likes to see bubs weened on to a cup by one and did I know what I was doing to his teeth :shame:.

Needless to say I never called again but yesterday I asked the feeding therapist and she said that 12-18m is the window when they normally like to see toddlers progressing to a cup but with underweight children like E it's better for them to stay on a bottle until their weight is stable .

Now I know the CHN is not as specialised but I had told her about E's issues and explained that I just wanted to check the reccomended intake and that was all and she still felt the need to lecture me when actually she was wrong .

So ner ner to you CHN nurse :raspberry:

What is it with them anyway?

Some of them really shouldn't be 'helping' women with babies.

Good on you for not listening. Silly CHN :shame:

Dd2 is 22 months and still on the bottle :D she loves her cup too, but nothing beats her bottle to go to sleep.

Well I stuffed up big time lol. DS was 2 before we got the bottle off him.

But yes those CHN's can be a PITA at times. The one running our mum's group was a shocker. One of the girls had unfortunately lost one her twin during the birth. When she informed the CHN that she was seeing a counselor because of it the CHN said "What for"

That's so wrong .

I wonder if the one I spoke to expects BF mums to express in to a cup from 12m as babies over that age should not be sucking on anything .

She should save the lectures for the mums who give their bubs coke in a bottle :p.

:iagree:
My son was 1 year old and exclusively breastfeed, he didn't want to eat solids, my CHN had a go at me saying i would have to make him eat because he wouldn't get enough from my breast milk, he was off the chart for weight for his age so i don't know what she was thinking. Every time i went they made me second guess myself so i never went back.
