I was asked by my dr to cut out dairy food and see if that helps ds excema as Im still feeding him. So I went along to supermarket and got goats milk and goat cheese and some soy yoghurt. Now a nurse is telling me that a goat is an animal too(I knew that:idea: ) but I didn't think a goat was dairy. I thought it was a good option for allergies. Can anyone help me?

And can anyone tell me where I can get my protein from now ? As I am practically vegatarian who was relying on my dairy products

I was on a cows milk free diet and doctor suggested goats and sheep milk and products as good alternatives - yes they do still ahve a small amount of lactose in them, but more digestable by us intolerant folkies and generally recommended. ROquefort cheese is sheeps cheese...check fetta but some are wholly sheeps milk too...goats cheese(when like mini camembert) is yummy baked in oven and then used as dip btw. I found in UK I couldnt taste difference between goats milk and cows milk...not sure what standard is here though...

I don't know if it does fall in the dairy catagory but when my dd was little she too had excema and I cut out just cows milk, which I used to drink a lot of, and her excema cleared up. When she was old enough to go onto milk. I put her straight on to goats milk and even now she is just over 2 and it still flares up if she has cows milk. It is only milk though, she can have cheese and yoghurt etc and it doesn't seem to affect it.
Good luck

thanks. the excema has cleared up...wow! It must be the cows milk that was causing it.

That's fantastic, it's so good when one of the first things you try is what is the cause of the problem.
