So we have been TTC'ing since Nov 08...came off the the Pill of 6years.

First cycle 39days > period
Second cycle 30 days > period (like clockwork)
Third cycle 39 days > and still counting no period yet

I am finding it hard to pinpoint my time of ovulation, seen as how the stereotype of ovulating "14 days" before period is not true in my case. I have been trying to follow my mucus and charting but trying to notice the slippery/wet/clear mucus (especially this month) has been more difficult.

Does the mucus have to be that noticeable that is is on your pants or can you notice it when you wipe after going to the toilet e.g. is wiping enough notice?

Also how am I to judge when to estimate if Im ovulating when I can't estimate if my period will come on time?

So far negative :bfn:test...no signs of pregnancy or typical period symptoms except extreme moodiness, feeling depressed and have been extremely stressed. That is what I can only put down my late period too. So I am gonna chill (or try to) so my period will come....

I am just more concerned about if I am actually ovulating or not??? If there is signs of the "fertile" mucus, but it is not really prominent...is this a sign of not really ovulating and could mean I might not be fertile (this month)?

I had a general blood test check up when we decided to TTC so doc could check rubella etc and say the test showed everything was 'fine'. But not sure exactly what 'fine' was looking at. Even though it was a few months ago, maybe I should call up and ask about my results again and what was tested to know that fine meant fertile?

Are you temping? using ovulation predictor tests? if not it might be worth while starting as they will help you pinpoint ovulation and whether you are ovulating.
Your body could still be trying to regulate itself after coming of birth control so i would try not to stress too much.
If your period doesn't come within a week go get a blood test to see if you're pregnant if you aren't it may be wise to have your hormones tested to see if you have pcos.
As for fertile cm are you only wiping to check? maybe try checking your cervix for the cm and see what it is like. I don't get cm in my undies but do get it when i wipe, i check cm from the cervix though.

:iagree:with ringneck, esp about going by your temperatures. I too have had quite irregular periods (28 - 38 days) ever since I went off the pill so I have found that by charting my temperatures I can be sure that I actually AM ovulating, it's a big relief. I'm also pretty sure that you can go by the CM you get when you wipe, I do:thumbsup:.

Best of luck with your TTC journey.

The Dr can do a blood test to see if you are ovulating, but i think that it can be only be done a certain time of the month. Best to check with your DR. Have you tried the ovulating test kits you can buy at the chemist. They may help you.

I am having the same issues as you i don't seem to have much if any mucus that i notice at any time.

I have just started with the ovulation kits so time will tell. I hope...

hi arty! I have irregular cycles too and kept exhausting myself by the time O finally happened and i would miss it! I started charting and noticed that after two cycles my body did give away subtle clues that I was about to O.

As for CM, i would check internally but i found that i could check internally and only see creamy CM yet when i would wipe 30 seconds later i would have EWCM. So bizarre. I only ever saw EWCM when i wiped and it would be the tiniest amount just on the day or two around O. I thought i would have to try pre-seed or something, but a little seems to have done the trick ;)

So are we suppose to check CM internally? (as in stick a finger up there?) as I have always relied on just wiping and checking my pants. Is there a right and/or wrong way?

OK - way TMI warning!! apologies in advance but I think this s quite useful...

A natrapath friend of mine is trained in natural family planning, and she reckons the best way to check CM is to check when wiping after a bowel movenmet - the BM pushes on the cervix and pushes out CM.

When I wasnt very aware of my cycles I used to think the mucus was coming from the bowel, but it isnt as its only this time of the month.

I guess you could also check internally but I find that tricky.
