Hi all,
My 3 yr old son is waking through the night. I went to a ENT yesterday and explained his symptoms which include:
waking frequently through the night
snoring on and off
breathing through his mouth
waking ringing wet from sweat
poor apetite
waking tired
big day sleeps
Does anyone know about Obstructive sleep apnea? He is suggested having my son's adenoids out (scrapped) and perhaps his tonsils? Has anyone had any success with this?
He didn't provide me with any other option?
Please if anyone knows anything would love to hear from you

My DS1 has had recurring tonsillitis and when I took him to the specialist to see about having them out she aked me whether he snored and I said 'my god yes' :p

He suffers the same symptoms as you mentioned above as she dignosed him as having paediatric sleep apnoea and said that his troubles will disappear once his tonsils and adenoids are removed!

We are in the process of going through our private health to have them removed.

My SIL has a friend with a DS about the same age as my DS. When he was 2 he was acting out and they had terrible trouble with his diet and sleeping patterns and he was sufferng from sleep apnea. The Dr took out his adenoids and tonsils and he was a changed kid. All of a sudden he was eating properly, getting plenty of sleep and his behaviour improved dramatically because he wasn't so tired any more. Also the sleep apnea has gone all together now.

Good luck.

Best thing ever for DS1 he had tonsils and adenoids out and ear grommetts put in. He went from a terrble snorer and sleeper often gasping through his mouth constantly sick and on ab's to a perfect sleeper with good health.

The op and recovery was pretty aweful but best decision we made. never looked back with regret good luck with your little one The ENT spec will guide you through it....
