Hi - I'm hoping someone can recommend the best pram.. I am currently pregnant and am going to have 2 babies 14 mths apart... I currently have a cheap stroller (already has a few problems).. so I really want to get something that is good and won't breakdown etc for the two of them.

What pram would be best for two babies that close?

I asked this questions a while back and almost every reply said Phil & Teds, fellow bubhubbers love them so I suspect that will be the answer.

I picked up my P & T sport last week and love it but I have been using the toddler seat as an extra large shopping basket until bub arrives. Its so handy!! :D

My last 2 are 13 months apart.

Up till now I've just worn Julian in the Ergo and had gabby in the stroller...

It will be interesting to hear what people say... I was just planning on using the huge pram I had for the twins... but I would love something new and more compact.

I'd suggest the steelecraft enigma double for something more compact.

i just finished the huge pram hunt and was looking at doubles
but went just with a single as missy really is starting to walk about more(will toddler board and sling it on days when she is in need of stroller time)
but i narrowed my long search down to the citti mini or the valco ion in the doubles
both are able to carry toddlers up to 20+kg( most seem to only got to 16kg) and are side by sides but will fit through a standard door/checkout
i found that most of the limo style very hard to steer and had normal wheels (OK for shopping malls but not out on the side walk) and that toddlers seats again only went up to 16kg(and only sat half way up the toddlers back and either had no lay back or very slight)
the Phil and Ted's system is good but if like me you do allot of walking about shopping it dose not leave much space to put your shopping(bread milk etc)
both the citti mini and the valco ion had large shopping baskets and separate seats with full recline
both came with ALL the extras IE: rain hoods sun covers
the citti retails at around $700 and the valco ion at $580-$650 depending on retailers
well thats my two bobs worth! :)

Hi,

I have a 14mth age gap. I found a double pram was really essential. I have got two (cause of a plane luggage hold up - and couldn't cope in a strange city without a pram).

I prefer my Peg perego twin aria, it is 60/40 so my older bub has more room. It is really light, in fact lighter than my single pram.

I also have the Steelcraft duo twin, which I got in January this year for $230. It is a bit cheap and nasty I find compared to the Peg. The weight limit on each side is also either 15kg or 17kg, whereas the peg is 20kg each side. The best thing about this pram is that it folds up umbrella style so if you have a smaller car, it fits really well....although the peg is 5kg lighter it doesn't fold up as compactly. In the steelcraft my older bub who is now 26mths lookes a bit squashed. Both kids also love the trays in the Peg.

The Peg was about $450....now my younger bub will be one next week and my toddler is 26mths... I find that I am not using it that much, back to using my single pram with one of those skateboard things so I am glad I didn't spend more any more money on a more expensive double pram.

Hiya,

I have been pram hunting as ttc #3 and need a new one.

I was going to go with a tandem but went and had a try of them in the shops (used my ds and dd to get a good idea of the weighted feeling) and decided a tandem is just way too hard.

Found the "Love n Care Uni Coupe" its just so smooth, roomy and easy to push. Can put a toddler seat on it. $500 pram and $100 toddler seat. Easy to attach/detach. Reverse handle, fly net etc. I liked the idea of being able to remove the toddler seat for those rare days when you go out with just the bub (a tandem would make you look like you have forgotten someone with just one child in it!).

Having said all that my youngest two will be about 3 yrs apart. You may be able to carry baby in a sling when your toddler wants to sleep in the pram, if your toddler sleeps in a pram....

Thats my two cents... good luck in your hunt, may it be fruitfull :D

Lol. Thanks everyone.

I am thinking that at 15 mths, my DS may not be ready for a toddler seat?

I looked at the phil & ted prams.... would he be comfortable stuck in the lower seat like that? Seems like they can't see much? And how do they get in there?

I guess I need to go to a good pram place and have a sticky beak.

I do walk *a lot* and if this baby is like my DS (ie huge) then a front pack won't be practical after about 3 months. (Don't like slings as feel restrained).

The tandem prams look so gigantic to manoveure...

Would a 15 mth old be able to sleep & get into ok the P&T prams with the toddler seat that attaches underneath?

Hi there,

I have big kids too, and bought a P&T vibe when I was expecting number 2.

I have found, for my youngest, it is a pain to get him into and out of the toddler seat at the bottom. Because he is so big, I find it hard to get him in and out without either banging him against the bottom of the main seat or the handlebar. Being such a big boy, he doesn't have a lot of space down there either.

Another thing you should check on is the location of the bar in the toddler seat. The toddler seat reclines, however I was not able to recline my youngest from about 6 months on, as he was too tall. His head was against the bar, and whenever I went over a crack in pavement or a bump, he would whack his head.

Apparently the toddler seat in the P&T sports is bigger overall, and the bar is higher up, so this may be a better option.

Check it out anyway and see if it suits you...

But I personally am looking at buying a side by side...

Good luck
