Ill ask my mum how she handled it as she had myself who was newborn and my sister who was 2... Will get back to u
I hope u feel better!
I broke my foot when I had a 2.5yo and a 9mth old!! I had no choice but to get a fibreglass cast and a special sandle so I could still try and walk as my dd was only crawling..I had to carry her. I drove....I had no choice and also did the shopping..oh, and we moved house too!

How did you manage? Especially being on crutches and carrying a child etc?

No, I didn't use crutches..I had no choice but to try and walk so I could carry my 9mth old. I was 1st put in a plaster cast, but because I had to walk on it, it just fell apart underneath and hurt.... I ended up in the bath cutting it off
I went back to the hospital where they put a fibroglass cast on and gave me a special shoe.

Oh I see.
I am non-weight bearing, so I can't stand on my right foot - it would hurt too much anyway (its agony when its at rest!). I am currently in a plaster cast and am due to get it changed tomorrow at the hospital, hopefully into a fibreglass cast and that I might be partial weight bearing soon.
My main frustration, aside from not being able to drive or go anywhere is that while using crutches I can't carry anything - not just kids (both of mine are mobile, so we can manage) but even a cup of tea or food for the kids. My DD1 is a good helper but even she has her limits (I won't give her anything hot to carry, but cereal or a cup of milk is fine).
I know it will get better, but I'm pretty down about it all at them moment.:gloomy:

oh no Z!
what a problem. i understand how you feel tho. my knee often twists and dislocates so i am on and off crutches reguarly. its not easy to cope but lots of dvd's and snack type foods are good. see if you can get a trolley (table on wheels) and put the food on that. then you can push it around and not worry about spilling stuff trying to carry it. you do learn easier ways of doing things. the hardest thing i found was trying to have a shower or bath.
if you need a hand with anything just give me a shout. i am only 15 minutes away from you. even if it is just to do the washing or get something from the shops for you.

oh and if you can put a little bit of weight on your foot then try to use only 1 crutch. it is easier to carry things but not quite as easy to walk around.
Hey BB&D!! I was thinking of you the other day, and wondered if you were still around on bh that is!!
Thanks for your tips and advice! I think mum has a trolley that I could borrow - at the moment I can't put any weight on my right foot, but once I can I think things will be easier.
Good news - Charlton Brown just rang me and they have a nanny student needing a placement, so I am going to have some free nanny help in a couple of weeks - YAY!!!
The timing could not have been better!!:smiliedance:

wow! you are going to have your handsful. My last vouple of weeks pregnant with ds3 and dealing with a 2year old and 1 year old were tough enough. I got my DH to take a week of work for the last week and everyone in my family too turns coming to help bath the kids and help me with th ehouse work. Before dh was off it worked out someone was here every day. My 2 eldest also spent a couple of days and the grandparents when I was exhausted.
Good Luck!! Maybe buy a copy of nemo! It has gone non stop for the last week my 2 year old and 1 year old love it! Its been my saviour while dealing with ds3's reflux and crying.
