Hi i had a hysterosalpingogram am assuming is the same thing, they put the dye through tubes and scan via x-ray or u/s.
Mine was very painful but that's because my right tube is a solid mass so the dye had no where to go, didn't have any pain on the left side at all and that flowed through beautifully.

thanks for your reply. I only have one tube and have been trying for past 10 months to fall pregnant. I have had endo and cysts in the past and looks like I have to get this tube checked out. I have been hesitant to have it done as I have heard it is painful (and also because I keep giving myself one more month to get pregnant). I just have to bite the bullet.

A lot of women find they fall pregnant not long after as it flushes the system out good luck

I had one done about 1 month ago, it wasn't painful at all, take a nurofen before you go. Don't know how to explain the feeling but as the cervix doesn't like to be touched so for about 3 - 4 seconds you will have a 'period' type cramp and it will go straight away. Wear knickers that you can wear a pad and take a pad as after you will have light spotting
Yes and it is true that for the following 3 months after you have a high chance of getting UTD

i have had a hystereosalpingogram done also.
mine was done on day 9 of cycle, they have to do it on a certain time of your cycle.
i found it hurt heaps for a few secondslike a bad period cramp.
it hurts because they are blowing up a small balloon inside u to release the dye.
best wishes, hope it doesnt hurt too much.

ps nobody ever told me in advance to take any pain killers, so take that advice!

Hi, I have also had this done. I was quite worried in the lead up that it might be painful but it wasn't too bad. Yes it did hurt for a while, but once the procedure was done (less than 1 min) the pain went away. Kind of like a sharp period pain.
It apparently does hurt more for those with blockages etc.
Also, I was told to take naprogesic or neurofen before. (About 1- 1 1/2 hours before).
For what it's worth, I think the pain/discomfort would be worth it just to know if there are any problems etc.
Good luck. TTC is a very tough journey at times.

Thanks everyone so much for replies and the advice about pain killers! I am not worried about it at all now. I will definitely take a nurofen before I go. Something I didn't even consider.
