View Full Version : Shoes to fit with AFO's
Hi I'm just wondering if any of you know where I can purchase some 'pretty' girls shoes to fit over AFO's. I've been really lucky up till now finding pretty girly type shoes but Leacie is about to get new AFO's and the shoes she's wearing are the biggest they have. I really don't want gianormous clumping joggers to go with all her pretty dresses.
I've seen a shoe they call 'Hatchbacks' on the net but haven't been able to find anyone in Oz who supplies them. They're such a fantastic idea and would save on having to go 2 sizes up.
OMG you have no idea how excited I am to have another litle one like miki here on bubhub, Not that im happy that your little girl has CP but happy that seen she does you have joined bubhub, does that make sense lol
Anyway yer hatch backs are great they look so so cute, They do from time to time sell them in bets and bets but it depends on the buyer for that year season aparently
I absolutely love the hatch back shoes called Ava the patent ones so prety, I think i wil get them for miki next time she needs shoes, I wil just order on line
I like you at the moment find i have to buy shes 2 sizes to big so they look like clown shoes lol But I have found some carebear sandles in big W that open right up so can get the right size, Also target had some great shoes as well, i find that the cheaper shoes are usualy easier over AFOs, also crocs are great with them too

my DD1 wears schien shoes. after searching and searching the internet for i don't know how long i stumbled across these. we have had a few pairs now (ones for AFO's and anti varus ones) and they are by far the best shoes we have tried, and very girly;). oh and the best thing about them is they sell shoes separate, my DD1 has to completely different sized feet and it is best to get shoes that fit each foot right for her (she has talipes) and by selling the as separate shoes it means i can buy one of each size...you can also by one 'normal' shoe and one 'special'....how cool is that
if you would like to have a look into them feel free to PM me and i will send you the details of their aussie supplier.
i will also talk to a few people i know and find out if/who is the aussie supplier of hatchback shoes.
Oh Amy you made me laugh, YES I understand what you mean  I feel the same way about finding someone who can relate on Bub hub. I'm also with another forum and there are only a few kids with SN and not much is ever posted, and although the ladies are lovely and supportive unless you have a SN child I don't think you ever fully 'get' it. I'm sure you know what I mean.
What is 'bets and bets'? I've never heard of it.
And yep, I love the black Ava shoe. I've sent them an email asking if there is an Aussie supplier, hope they get back to me.
Thanks SorenLorenson, I've looked up the Schein shoes, wow they have a great range. I agree it is fantastic they sell odd sizes, as I was looking for afo shoes online it dawned on me how hard it must be for kids with hemiplegia and only wearing one afo, you'd have to buy two pairs of shoes. I never even thought about kids with talipes. I would PM you but I don't know how, lol :o I'd love to find where they're stocked.
What I don't understand is we Aussies are so darned clever, why didn't WE come up with these ideas, or make something similar.
lol glad you understood what i ment
bets and bets must be a WA shop lol didnt realise mmmmmm, Im all stuck for ideas I think i may go for Ava hatchecks this winter
I looked them up online, and 'duh me' we have them here too, I'd never heard of them before though. Might ring them tomorrow and ask them what they have to offer.
Of my 3 girls Leacie is the only 'girly girl', the other two could pass for sons, lol, so it'd break my heart if she couldn't get pretty shoes and look like a princess.
