I am sick of always trying to remember to go and buy wipes so i have decided to get some washable ones.
I need some advice though. What is the best fabric to use and wat sort of water solution would be best to use??

Some just cut up flannelette into squares sewing up the edges etc but for us i just use face washers !
I went into Best & Less where i found a whole heap of facewashers on special 6 for $5 but i have even gotten some at Spotlight that cheap also then all i do is wet them as i need it ! Soooooooo much better than wipes ! They clean everything off quickly & easily
You can get a squirt bottle to keep some water in or water with some chammomile to soothe bums which you then use to squirt as needed.
There are a few different ways to do it just try a few things out & do what works for you !
Good luck :D

We use cheap face washers - the thinner the better and I prefer the terry towelling type over other fabrics because the loops seem to catch more. I'm lazy these days and store dry ones in the bathroom and only wet them when needed. I give the wet wipe a little squeeze of Vegesorb if DS is having particularly sticky poos. Then chuck in nappy bucket with the rest of the nappies :) Too easy.

We use nappy liners - they are sort of like chux - and water. It's about $12 for 100and you can wash them at least 5 times before throwing them out. We use them for everything! bottom cleaning, face wiping (fresh ones!), disaster recovery... very handy :)

I was going to post this myself, I order 15 for $15 on ebay from a WAHM. I have not received them yet but was thinking of just keeping the wipes in a huggies container with a mixture of water, dash of olive oil or baby oil and maybe camomile tea I heard is good.

Then just chuck them straigh into the nappy bucket for washing.

Cant wait to get them.

I would give the Baby oil a miss though. Petrol by-products are not nice on bubbies bottoms. Go for sweet almond oil or apricot kernel oil. Oil won't blend with water though so you will probably need a solubilizer to blend them.

I made some out of spare flannellete baby wraps and some terry towelling nappies I had spare... cut them up into 20cm squares and overlocked them together so one side flannelette the other side terry toweling. This is the same size as a huggies wipes so when folded in half they fit perfectly in the huggies wipes boxes. I use chamomile tea on mine :)

I just use the generic chux wipes (bought 20, cut them in half, so have 40) and that only cost me about $4-$5 at the most. keep a jug of pre-made chamomile tea by the kettle, boil the kettle and top up a small plastic tub (like the ones you get take-away chinese food in) with half chamomile tea and half boiling water......nice and warm on a cold winters day.....

These ones have lasted me about 3 months so far, and they are still in excellent condition.

I use these for my 2 year old though, and am currently considering something a bit softer than chux wipes for my new baby.....probably just cut up material of some kind.....

i cut up some really thin terry flats, you could probably use any old material though. a friend overlockered them for me and they are great.

i dry pail so they just go in with that, no need for chemicals. hot wash and dry in the sun if you need to be sure of germ killing:D
