I just realise that both my parents were raised by single mothers...

why hadnt i noticed that before LOL..

my paternal mother was a divorcee and my maternal mother a widow

both my parents were under 8 when their parents became single parents.

wow that was uncommon in the day let alone to have both parents experience it.

My great grandmother was a widow and back then there was no support for single mothers, so she had to leave my grandmother home alone from age 9 so she could work as a seamstress.

Horrible.

Thank goodness the times have changed since then.

My XDPs grandmother was quite radical for her time - she divorced because her husband was abusive, remarried and divorced again later hehe.
