View Full Version : music classes
Hi All,
i am after some first hand experience with music classes. i prefer not to go to kindermusik and am after some other kind of class.
i live in brisbane and if anyone has some info on their experiences- i'd love to hear about it!!

Hi Emmas
i'm in the same boat, I don't particulary want to go to Kindermusik either and been looking ever since.
Out local Library holds music classes (singing and dancing) for 0-2 yr olds on Friday's, you should check with your local one wether they hold it too.
There is always Gymboree, but haven't been there yet (there's one at Windsor i think)
adn the following has been sent to my by another mum at BH
www.fortemusic.com (http://www.fortemusic.com/) (which is also kindermusic)
www.minimaestros.com.au (http://www.minimaestros.com.au/)
Maybe we can share info?
I'll see what else i can find out and let you know:detective:
Cheers

i have had a few mums say to me that forte music wansn't very god(in their opinion) so i guess i want to try and steer clear of that one!
i have a friend who is music therapist so i will get her opinon on a few as well and share that with you guys!
hopefully together we can find something!

Hiya - can I ask what's wrong with kindermusik? I was looking into taking my little one there. Thanks
there is aboslutely nothing wrong with kindermusik. I've never been there. I just want something less structured for my son. Basically, i just want him to go somewhere and play on a few instruments and have a great time, rather than to actually learn about how to play the music.
I found that i didn't want to pay for something so structured when he probably wouldnt take full advantage of it.
I hope your little one has a fantastic time!
Hi,
I have also been looking into activities for my baby.
I have decided primarily not to go to Kindermusik or Gymberoo solely because these are overseas imports and not created in Australia.
If you visit the website www.kindyroo.com.au and www.kindyroo.com this organisation was established in Melbourne for assisting in baby and toddler development. They also use music in their classes and equipment to assist parents in learning about their baby/childs milestone development. They are only located at Windsor.
I have yet to actually go to a class but when I emailed and phoned Barb she promptly posted out to me the class schedule, pricing and their newsletter which explains about the benefits of the classes.
I am planning on joining next term. The lessons are $15 each for 11 week term = $165 and they provide instructions/assistance on being able to perform activities held in the classes at home using your own household furniture.
They have both babyroo classes from 6weeks old for non-mobile babies, mobile babies and then kindyroo for toddlers thoughout the week.
Hope this assists in knowing about another activity out there.

Not sure where you are based in Brisbane but I found
Little Music Makers at Chermside West really good when my DD was little and we were home together before I returned to work.

I have just had a look at the back of the Kindyroo Newsletter and they have listed the following Affiliated Centre locations in New South Wales.
Albury/Wondonga

Bryon Bay - (07) 5529 3396 - 1800559426 - this is the only ph. no given for all nsw
Concord
Cromer
East Lindfield
Flinders
Glebe
Kingsford
Ku-ring-gai
Lake Macquarie North
Lane Cove
Maitland
Manly/Seaforth
Mosman
Newcastle (Lambton)
Orange
Pennant Hills
Penrith
Rouse Hill

Sorry I can't help any further with contact phone numbers, I can only suggest maybe try the phone book or also try calling either the Byron Bay number above or Brisane on (07) 3851 1400 and they maybe able to give you contact details for a centre close to you.
P.S. I have just spotted on the newsletter in small writing saying Kindyroo is owned by Toddler Kindy Gymbaroo Pty Ltd, I just did a google search on this and there is a website www.gymbaroo.com.au which lists all of the New South Wales locations and if you click on a suburb it pops up with the contact details.
Cheers!
