I have only recently found out I am pregnant, and over the last 2 weeks I keep sleeping. I know that being sleepy is normal in the first trimester, however I can't permanently be tired can I?

I am setting up my own business and really need to get things moving, any hints for combatting fatigue?

Thanks!

The second trimester was the best for me, i had heaps of energy but as soon as i hit the third, sleepy all the time!
Try and aleep when your body tells you to though, you will need all you can cram in!

sometimes gentle exercise can get the energy levels up!

Cheers and goodluck!

The tiredness can be completely overwhelming and unfortunately, if it's severe, there's not much you can do but rest and ride it out.

Having said that, I have found yoga to be really useful. When I feel really tired sometimes I just lay with my legs resting up the wall. After five minutes or so of doing that I will do some cat stretches and maybe some seated forward bends. These are all really gentle exercises but get me moving and help relieve the exhaustion. Although it's only in the last two weeks I've been able to manage that. I was a complete right off in the first semester (see first paragraph :))

Like everyone else has said - the 2nd trimester is better.

For me this pregnancy is harder than with my DD as I now need to up with her and can't sleep all the time.

Rest when you can, as often as you can - your body needs it, but going for gentle walks helped me not feel too flat.

Actually, the first trimester was just a horribly tired time. Sorry, not to scare you, but the 2nd tri is much better and I loved my 3rd trimester too...

Good Luck :)

Go to the doctor and get a blood test done to check your thryroid function levels.
I was so fatigued in my first trimester that I was unable to function in my normal life, and it was because my thryoid was not functioning. The thyroid is very important as it contributes hormones to the growth of the baby's brain. The imbalance I have is corrected by medication (still on the medication). Hopefully it's not that but I think you should get it checked.

Thanks for all your advice! This week has definitely been better, I've increased my activity so that I'm doing something gentle each day and feeling SOOOO much better.

Off to the doctors tomorrow so will get my thyroid checked out!

Thanks again.

Have a great week
