I was diagnosed with that & Ross River Fever at 6 weeks pregnant.

I am wanting to hear how things turned out for people with parvo during pregnancy. I know the risk to baby is very small, but there is still a risk.

Do you have a story to share?

Oh & Parvo occurs in humans too, not just dogs! Its a different strain.

I don't mean for this to scare you, but you did ask for stories.
I do re-call a thread that i posted in sometime ago, that involved two women who contracted Parvo virus and so did their unborn babes. Unfortunatley they weren't happy ending's.

You've spoken to your Dr. about the risk to the baby?

Thanks, you're right I did ask.

I have an appointment with a specialist on Friday to find out all the details.

It is still unknown if baby got it too.

:fingerscrossed: Bub is fine and dandy!
I believe there is only a 5% chance of bub contracting it, so the chances as you said are really slim.
Those two woman got the raw end of the deal.
:hugs:

Hope the Ross River clears quickly for you too.

Parvo B19 virus can cause miscarriage or stillbirth. In the loss thread we had a woman a few months ago who lost her bub at 20ish weeks due to contracting it. It is also called fifth's disease or slapped cheek, and it's a common childhood disease that often has no symptoms. I'm not sure what the implications would be if you caught it earlier on in pregnancy though?
I *think* there are other strains of parvo viruses humans can catch, do you know what type you had? :hugs:

I am pretty sure it was the B19 one.

I really hope bub in not in that 5% *insert on knees praying emoticon*

I didn't actually contract parvovirus, but I couldn't go past and not reply.

When I was pregnant with DS I had a scare with parvovirus - my daughter became ill with either parvovirus or roseolla, my GP couldn't tell which, so they ran some blood tests on me to see if they could detect my exposure to any parvovirus. It took almost a week for the result to come back, but it was the longest week of my life. I remember doing lots of research and being scared sick. During my waiting time I think I researched too much iykwim. In the end my blood tests returned negative, so they put DD's illness down to roseola.

My heart goes out to you, its such a worrying time. :hugs:

My prayers and thoughts are with you and your precious bub. :hugs: I will be thinking of you. Many, many hugs and positive vibes :hugs::goodvibes::goodvibes::goodvibes:
