Hi there mums...

ARGHH....please help me...i can't sleep because i'm worried i've done something horrible to DS.

My DS is teething....the first night of screaming...it's awful.

We gave him some baby nurofen at 6.45pm tonight to help him get to sleep. We dont have any panadol in the house for him. I was going to get some tomorrow.

He just woke at 11pm screaming the house down, so unlike my poor boy. He must be in sooo much pain. In desperation and not thinking clearly from being woken out of a deep sleep, we gave him another 1.5mls of Nurofen. We thought we could give it every 4 hours, but i read the container AFTER DH gave him the dosage...and it said to give it every 6-8hrs. We have given it him about 5 hrs after the last dose.

Apart from feeling horrible about it.....could this cause any problems for my DS? Should i be worried?

First thing tomorrow i will be going out to get Panadol....unless someone else has something else they can reccommend thats not as harsh as Nurofen?

Thanks in advance...

Mrs Little & Son.

Try not to worry.
The Doctor told me that the dosage is put on there as a guide & it allows for an adjustment here & there, I am not saying make it up as you go but I am more than certain it will be fine
I do hear what you are saying though, when my DD was smaller I would wake her up just to make sure everything was OK :o

Try not to stress, he'll be fine, I mean an hour or two early you arent exactly going to over dose him at all. you still gave him the right doage for his age, so nothing serious really. If you are really extra worried, give the hospital a call. But he will be ok.

Thanku so much for replying cupcake.

I appreciate your words of comfort.....hopefully that will be enough to help me go back to bed for whatever sleep i can have till the next lot of screaming. :fingerscrossed:

Have u used nurofen or given a dosage of other medication a little earlier than pescribed on the bottle? It's not overdosing is it?

I'm tempted to go in and check on him...LOL :o ....but i don't want to ruin the work i did to get him to sleep.

One more thing
My DD had alot of trouble with every tooth(only 2 more to go:yelclap: )& with these 2 yr molars I was giving her Panadol or Nurofen & really did not want to so i tried those Hylands Teething Tablets(homeopathic) & they worked a treat on her

Thanks Alannah's Mum.....gawd...what would i do without my BUBHUB mums?!!

We didn't even give him the full dose at 11.30pm. We gave him 1.5mls instead of 2mls.

COOL....they sound good.

I've been using Brauers during the day...but it hasn't helped in these screaming situations.

Where would i find the Hylands Teething tablets? How do you administor them?

 I have but the Dr told me to do so & she was fine, what they write on the bottle is a precaution to protect themselves & recommended unless a Dr states otherwise.

:hugs: To you, I still wake up at night & go feel DD tummy more than I care to say :D

They are at most chemist in the baby care section, you just give them the amount it says on the bottle and they dissolve within seconds on there tongue.

Sleep well :fingerscrossed: I am off to check DD :D & go to bed

Nice to chat to you too, if you are super worried have you a fold out bed or mattress you can put in bubs room & sleep in there?
