View Full Version : Am I Doing The Right Thing?
My daughter just turned 2 last week. For the last 8 months I have been letting her run around without a nappy on. Sometimes we have accidents sometimes she goes to the potty. I have not been enforcing the must go to the potty but i plan to be less flexible with potty training when the weather warms up. Could I have made a mistake by not enforcing potty training or was I right to wait?

I think you've done the right thing. You are far better off waiting until they are ready for the whole potty training thing, rather than doing it when you are ready. I have a friend who toilet trained all 5 of her kids by letting them run around with no nappy on.
I want to do the same thing for Matthew when it warms up (he was 2 last week as well), but I don't think I'll have much success. He seems to enjoy sitting in wet/soiled nappies.

The warmer months are definately a better option!
Although when we t.t DS1 he was outdoor's alot of the time (with our dog-may he RIP) and I think he thought he was a dog, he would be squatting all over the garden doing his business #1 and #2's
Thankfully that was a phase, as her prefer's the indoor type now.
Well since my last post things have changed dramatically. Jacelyn has decided she doesn't like nappies so she's bare behinded all day every day. The only difference is when she's going to bed and she usually brings the nappy to me.
Jacelyn's doing great with the potty training, she helps me to clean up afterward and washes her hands. It's great she's learning so young. One problem she won't do #2's in the potty, it's usually on the floor. The biggest problem is Samantha my 8 month old who is crawling everywhere and likes to play. It's hard to keep her out of it because she follows Jacelyn everywhere.
