Hi all BubHubbers,
This is an appeal to all parents who have spare cash to donate or spare baby/childrens clothing they can donate to the bushfire appeal.
I own a baby boutique and am organising charity relief boxes for babies and children of certain age groups that can be given directly to families.
Red Cross have stated money is a good option for donations as they have lots of clothes etc all over the place and find it hard to sort through with everything that is going on, also they are having trouble finding people who will actually transport goods to Victoria.
We have organised our courier to send all prducts by donation and all boxes we will pack into will be donated also.
After discussing with Red Cross and Salvation Army, making relief packs is a good idea as it can be handed directly to the families no fuss.
Boxes will contain items such as-
- Nappies
- Dummies
- Wraps
- Wipes
- Singlets
- Toiletries
- Comforters

each box will be age appropriate, (older baby boxes will contain items such as sippy cups, rusks, cereal etc)
We have been registered with the Salvation Army and are currently accepting monetry donations as well as discussing how to collect any used or new items people are happy to donate for the boxes.
If you live in the Canberra region we are happy for you to drop items to us or we can pick them up from you. If you are interstate we will organise to have them collected from you.
I was personally affected by the bushfires that affected Canberra, but on a much less scale and just want to do all I can for these poor people.
Please PM for more details.

Thanks so much :)
Alison

I just wanted to congratulate you on getting involved and say this really is a fantastic idea, and urge everybody to get behind you.

I was in Innisfail for Cyclone Larry 3 years ago, and people were so generous and sent clothes, linen, toys and household goods from all over Australia.

Unfortunately, the volunteers just didn't have the time or resources to sort through all the donations, and they ended up being stored in my DH company shed until most of it was donated to Lifeline etc. months later.

So this is a great initiative. I will PM you for more details.

Oh you poor thing that must have been so hard for you. Please let me know if you have any thoughts that you think would be a great idea to send.

Thank you

Sorry to do this ladies, but we have rules in place. While we do understand that Australia is a nation passionate about helping those in need there are funds that have been set up by the authorities and charities to assist these people.

Please donate to the correct channels.
