Hi all,
My dd1 has been behaving atrociously lately. She has temper tantrums worse that she's ever had before, and is doing it 3-4 times per week. She becomes hysterical, kicking, screaming, crying and sobbing. She is unable to calm herself, and it can last as long as an hour - with her being beside herself for the entire time. I am at my wits end, and after much thought etc, am thinking that it may have something to do with her diet. Although she has a very good diet, mum said that even the healthy snack foods from the health aisle (rice wheels etc) still have many additives.
So, basically I am wondering which additives should I be looking for?
Does anyone have any links where I could look for further info?
Help please, it is making our house a warzone, and it's very stressful for every member of the family :crying:
Thank you in advance.
Cass

Oh, Cass :hugs: Good on you for looking into additives, I hope you can find a solution for yours and Bays sake :hugs:

The above website is probably the best. I have the book too, but I must admit I haven't had a chance to read it yet, but I have their little card in my bag with the 'bad' numbers on it, and just don't buy anything that has it in it.

And yes, it can be in so many things, some supposedly healthy and HEAPS of things aimed at kids.

And some kids DO react terribly. My kids aren't tooo bad, Liam I haven't noticed him react to any yet, but Yasmine reacts to 22* numbers - instantly acts like a lunatic, which lasts a couple of hours.

My nephew however, it had changed him, it really has. The teachers thought he had ADHD, and would have to be kept back (in kindy ) and cutting out additives have made him a different child.

Good luck hon. You are doing a really good thing

Thank you guys. We've been going through the cupboards, and have discovered that the hotdog rolls that we had for lunch yesterday had Preservative 282 in it, and the actual hotdogs had another colouring that wasn't too flash
We are now going to be going through what our kids eat and eliminating some stuff from their diet to see if it helps.

We live additive free, its hard work. This book has been great its call 'low to no additives'.
Its only about $20 and is worth every cent.
