View Full Version : Midnight party animal
Dd is 6 months old, and the last 4 nights has seen midnight every single night. She normally is asleep between 8.30 - 9pm (breastfed to sleep), and the last few nights, it just hasn't worked. She seems tired around 7, when we are into the swing of our bedtime routine, and then gets a second wind. She isn't crying or unhappy, just wanting to party on.
The first night, I left her to cry, and went in and out, and she only settled at 2am. The following nights I kept her out in the loungeroom with me, and she was asleep earlier(by midnight). Thought I would try the same approach tonight, as she seemed to be very tired(big afternoon of swimming), but she wants to hang off of me staring at the ceiling, and giggling, and being generally very sweet. But I can't take it any more, and I have had to put her in her bed, because after looking after a baby all day on your own, you need a break. She is in their grizzling, I know thinking it is all very unfair that Mummy is not keeping her company as she would like. Help! I just don't know what to do.

I hope she starts sleeping for you soon ,:fingerscrossed: :goodvibes: :cloud9:
I think its something about the age...
Gabes been doing similar on and off the last few weeks. He's always been a bad sleeper,,, but had almost got into a pattern of 8pmish through to 3-5am. Now hes settling 8ish but waking agin around 10pmish and same story...though I usually have been ending up rocking or bf back to sleep..
A lot of the bubs in teh born in june08 thread that I post in are doing similar...
Is she teething???
So frustrating isnt it... I think they know this is OUR time
and shhhh but G is still asleep so far tonight..though didnt settlle until 930....
Aw thanku...just got her off, hopefully she will have a good sleep...Love the avatar...love that man.
Hey C38...how you doing? I thought it was the custard, but it seems to be a habit. She has always been a good sleeper, 8 hr stints every night. I think maybe we get up too late in the day. But had to sleep in today to catch up on the last few nights of bad sleep, think we both needed it.
I know they get a bit more aware at this age, but I don't want to be a tough nut on my poor little darling. All the sleeping solutions seem to be geared towards babies who constantly wake, but once she is asleep, she is fine.
I hope you get a good night's sleep with your lil man tonight. How is Gabe when he has his teeth coming through?

Ah sounds like my DD - she used to be a pretty good night sleeper then at 6 months she just became a terrible sleeper.
Some nights i'm still up at 1-2am because she wants to play and won't sleep.
She is 7 months now and it has improved but is still a bit off.
The issue now is getting her down in the first place - it can take hours. Once asleep she will generally get at least 8 hours straight.

He's my eye candy
MM, I think we must have the same baby..How is her sleep during the day, and how do you get her off to sleep? I am glad someone else is awake at ridiculous hours with a partying baby (my sympathy to you though).

you could try some cammile tea about 20mls should do it:yes:
Very good idea, thanks:thumbsup:. I remember we settled Dd with chamomile tea when she was 8 weeks old. Hmmm, now I am hoping she plays up again, so I can try it out.
