To everyone who has to purchase epipens-
I just wanted to call attention to something i wasn't aware initially when purchasing an epipen for DD.
Epipens are usually around $120 each (well in my area anyway), however after i went to purchase my first couple of epipens jrs, my pharmacist (God bless her! :hugs: ) saved me a packet. She told me that i should get my GP to get an authorised script for the epipen so suddenly rather than paying $240 for 2 epipens, i paid $23 for TWO!
I recently got a HCCard and bought DD's last 2 epipens for just over $4.

I wasn't aware of the huge difference it makes. Granted my daughter was hospitalised with anaphylaxis, so the authority was easily obtained, however allergy specialists can get authority scripts quickly. (they just make a quick call to Canberra while you wait and you get some sort of ID that your Dr keeps for future scripts.

I just wanted to let everyone who was unaware of this and was paying too much for their epipens, know of their cheaper option.

I hope you won't need them too.
It's such a pain to have to carry everywhere and teach everyone to use.
Having said that, if it's going to save our little ones' lives, so be it.
I just couldn't believe the price difference. A friend of mine has been buying 2 per year for 7 years now, for her DD. She couldn't believe nobody had told her before, so she went and had her GP arrange authority script too.

I think sometimes we underestimate how important a helpful pharmacist is. :)

My husband has them as well and gets a GP script (not for the first few though). Makes a huge difference !:D
