Chermside is closer to Banyo then Toombul, but in saying that, Toombul's not far away either. You also have the option of Taigum Shopping centre as well, though it's not as big as Chermside and Toombul.

There are lot's of industrial, smaller shops in Virginia as well, which is Banyo's neighbour and Boondal also.

Hope that helps.

If you're after groceries, you could definitely just go to Taigum, (Beams Road, Taigum) but I don't know the bus timetables sorry, you'll have to look up transinfo line. Lot's of buses go up and down Sandgate Road. Here's the link: http://jp.transinfo.qld.gov.au/BTBuses.asp

There is a really good Library at Chermside on Hamilton Road.

wow now im confused with all these suburbs
the landlord told me that the bus on the road im living on goes straight to toombul shops and then IF you want to go to chermside you have to catch another bus from toombul is this right? as there wasnt one straight to chermside

thanks i hadnt heard about Taigum Shopping centre do you know if theres a bus straight therE? all these suburbs are confusing:laughing: im sure ill learn but ill probably get lost just trying to get groceries

thanks heaps for the info though:D

I lived in Banyo for a few months about a year ago.
There is a train to Toombul, which would be the easiest for shopping. There were also two small grocery places in Banyo, I forget the names, but both are within the centre of town. They had a wide enough range of things but were pricier than the big supermarkets. There is a library there in the centre of town also.
There wasn't much in the way of takeaway when we were there, but driving through recently looked like things might be opening. There was an awesome Indian restaurant there  It was about all I could stomach with morning sickness.
Where we were there was hardly any shade or breeze and I didn't like it much so we would often go out to Nudgee beach where there is an awesome boardwalk through the mangroves and a great spot to picnic and catch the breeze!
Hope you enjoy your time there.

BTW There isn't all that much at Toombul, except DJ's Kmart and a good gourmet deli. If you want to do real shopping clothes etc. I'd go to the city, from memory the train was only about 15 mins from Banyo Station. Chermside is a train and a bus. You probably already use it but I always use translink.com.au (http://www.bubhub.com.au/community/forums/translink.com.au)
to figure out how to get anywhere. I moved to Bris from Sydney so I'm absolutley clueless as to where anything is! That site is god sent!

 I was nervous about catching buses when I moved here because I never had caught them before moving to Brisbane, trains are a sinch. Just get a timetable and keep it in your bag so you know how many stops before yours etc.
I found a job in Banyo industrial area doing office/accounts work. I found it on seek just searched 'Banyo' Good luck
okay thanks for that:):) didnt think of looking at seek, although i noly want a casual jobs say 10 hours a week at the most.
yeah hoping trains will be easy/and buses:laughing: nervous
