I think Aspley is a nice suburb.
They have a shopping centre called the Pick n Pay Hypermarket, and I find it usually very easy to shop there, because it is rather quiet and not always busy like Chermside.
I's say around 15-20 minutes to the airport in good traffic.
There is not a train station at Aspley (closest would probably be Carseldine maybe?), but there are bus services.
Located behind the Pick n Pay, is a Swimming complex called "Aquatic Achievers". I have been told that it is very good (by several mums whose children have lessons there).
Hope this info helps. :)

If you live on the east side of Gympie Road, the nearest train station is at Zillmere - not all that close, but still within reason (about 20 min walk from my IL's house).

If you live in the west side of Gympie Road, you'll have to rely on buses. I'm sure there are shuttles that would go down Gympie road, but check out the Translink website anyway.

Hypermarket is a good place to shop - everything you need under one roof. There is also a woolworths further down Gympie road on the way to Chermside.

The area is nice, with a mix of houses from the 60s through to modern. There are lots of schools, I heard the primary schools are quite good but the high school used to have a reputation for being small and not that great. I think it's reputation has improved lately.

It's near homemaker centres, big fast food joints, and a few restaurants (all on Gympie Road) and a small shopping area that's being redone on Robinson Road.

Aspley is a good suburb, fairly close to all amenities, lots of nice parks etc.
