I was just wondering how the allergy presented and if it got better with different brands or did you switch to cloth?

Ozzy is alergic to every brand of disposables on the market.

I am now using cloth and have done for a long time now.

I found within 10 minutes of putting the disposable on him the whole area that the nappy would touch would be bright red and inflammed. It looked very painful.

I don't know if it is an allergy as such, but I know everytime I used to put C in a disposable nappy she would get red and nasty looking down there.

It goes soon after I put cloth nappies on.

I haven't switched over completely (just using the odd cloth), mainly due to the fact that I haven't brought enough. I think I will have to. She just poos so much and I am going to need so many! She has a horrible red rash and NOTHING will help it. Might just get a pile of terry flats to start with and go from there. Thanks.:)

My DD had a red rash with babylove but not other brands. Her nappy rash is pretty manageable now (in cloth nearly always) and at least I don't mind changing cloth nappies all the time which seems to be the key with most skin issues "down there" :)

I have a friend whose daughter had a really nasty rash for weeks. it turns out it was from Huggies. She switched brands and the rash cleared up.

Jacob sufferred from really bad eczema as a baby, cloth nappies were bad for his skin and made his butt red raw. I found that washing them with soap flakes rather than Napisan was the way to go, his skin cleared right up then.

A couple of solutions for both sides there. :)

The only disposables that were ok for CJ as a baby (now that he is bigger it doesn't seem to matter) were snugglers & huggues. All the others gave him a rash. I even tried Terry flats on him & they did it too!! Now he seems to have grown out of it though....

Thanks for your responses.
I have tried EVERYTHING it seems. She's always been in huggies (apart from the odd cloth here and there) and it just wouldn't go away. I am only using cotton balls, water and Pinetarsol to wipe with. I went to the chemist yesterday and got some of his own special stuff (with a steroid in it) and it has finally started to clear. I have been meaning to convert to cloth completely but with everything else I let it slide. Guess I'll be doing it now.
I'm excited! Off to order 10 Greens.:D

HL - my tip is use the Greens by day and the Beehinds by night. I haven't found the Greens to be aborbant enough for the long night haul. I love the softness of the bamboo but will concede that they take ages to dry. The hemp is very absorbant too - just not as soft as clouds! *sigh*

I have 21 fitted nappies and find this gives me the breathing space if I haven't washed each day.

Be warned though.... the fitted may not clear the rash. My DD actually developed nappy rash for the first time since switching from disposables. The only variable was the actual nappy.

Hi MM.
I have a few fitteds that are now too small for my DS that would fit her too...come to think of it I have a bit of a variety. She's only 5 weeks so wakes during the night anyway. I'll see how it goes but the only thing I haven't eliminated at this point is the disposable nappies. She is changed constantly. I'll let you know how it goes.
