 I have currently posted this in the general pregnancy & parenting section, but then thought maybe it would have been better in here too.... so this is that same thread.....

Anyone been on anti depressants during pregnancy and/or breastfeeding???

Due to a few years of depression Ive been on Lovan (fluoxotine) although only a small dose of 20mg per day & was advised to stay on them during my pregnancy, due to a past relapse coming off them... so I have.. I know they have kept me going as I never want to experience that horrible relapse feeling again & if im feeling good mentally then so is my baby

anyway...
I cant help but feel so guilty that im doing something to my bubba...
I asked my Dr today if when he is born will he be ok or will he have some sort of "need or addiction" for them, she said he will be fine...
Then I asked If It is ok to breastfeed & she sorta said yes & no, its up to me???

Ive been looking on the net & found some info on this subject & there have been studies & some babies do have side effects...
now im really paranoid, although the one im on is one of the safest aparently??

anyone been in this situation or know anything???
Im so scared Ive hurt my bub & he is not even born yet :(

I personally am on 100mg Zoloft and have been on that for almost 2 yrs with no side effects to my daughter at all through breastfeeding . .

Some medications have been labelled as safer during pregnancy/breastfeeding . . I know zoloft was one that was up there and the percentage of it that goes through to the breastmilk was like 0.1 % or similar

Hi,

I'm also on 100mg on Zoloft, and have been for a few months. I'm breastfeeding my 7 month old daughter, and have been told it's fine to take whilst doing so.
