Has anyone else started bleeding at 16 weeks and had a good outcome? I started spotting this afternoon and it is slowly beoming heavier. At the moment it's not heavy enough to ring the hospital as per their guidelines for after hours phone calls but I'm really worried that I'm about to lose my baby. I've had a look around the forum but I can only find stories where people have miscarried before 20 weeks. Is there anyone who can give me hope that bleeding at 16 weeks is not a bad sign. I don't currently have any cramps or pain.

I can share my positive story, hope it makes you feel better:)
I had a major bleed at nearly 15 weeks where I woke up in the night and it was all over the sheets. Sh!t myself went to the hospy having waves of cramping all the way. Was checked when I got there and cervix was shut and a scan the next morning shwed a HB and placental abruption. Was sent home, bleeding continued like I had AF till I was nearly 20 weeks which was worrying but DS turned out fine.
I hope the bleeding doesn't get any heavier for you, are you going to get checked out for peace of mind. Sucks just when you get to what people say is safe, another hurdle is presented
:hugs: hope everything turns out positively.

Thankyou so much for sharing your story. It's horrible when you do a search and can only find bad outcome stories. I rang the hospital as soon as the pregnancy clinic opened the next morning and went and saw them and it turns out I have Placenta Previa (sp) so my placenta is completely covering my cervix and causing it to bleed. I'm now back at home but not allowed to do much. I can't lift anything including my daughter and have to lie down as much as possible until they check again in 2 weeks.

Thanks again for sharing your story:)

Thats great news hun very happy for you. I was going to say i had placenta praevia i bleed constantly for 24 weeks most stressful time of my life. Happy to say my placenta did move away from my cervix which completely stopped the bleeding i had vaginal birth and my little girl is now 14 months :)

Hope the bleeding settles down for you, eventhough you have a reason, seeing the blood regardless of old or new is very worring. :hugs:

Yep I had heavy bleeding from 6 weeks through to 19 weeks non stop it was heavier than your heaviest day of AF. My cervix even opened up (to let all the blood out) and shut again but I still went on to have a healthy baby girl. I ended up on bedrest for ages. I beat the odds, you will too . Rest up.

are they going to give you a stitch to hold the cervix together?

i had a subchorionic hematoma with my 3rd, bleeding cramping at 11 1/2 weeks.. little bleeds all through, she is fine though..was overdue too:)

At this stage I don't need any stitches, but they'll monitor it every month to see how I'm going. The bleeding has now stopped altogether which is a good sign. We're now more concerned about the other lump/mass that they could see on the scan but hasn't yet been identified. Hoping it's just another ovarian cyst.

Hope it all goes well for you over the remainder of your pregnancy! I had a big unexplained bleed at 16w which had me hospitalized in my last pregnancy but everything ended up fine they never did find a reason for it.

Goodluck!
