Hi Zan,
Welcome to Bubhub! What a big move you are making from Britain to Australia! You should love Hornsby. It's a lovely area. Have you been out here much before?
I am 28 with 4 kids, William 8, Sarah 6, Maverick 4 and Harrison 21 months. Just discovered Bubhub 2 weeks ago and I love it. I'm sure you will meet some lovely mums in the Hornsby area and also mums who you can just chat with on Bubhub.
I'd like more kids but don't know if we will have them yet. That was interesting that you gave birth at home... I think the UK is more supportive of home births than Australia, or maybe it is just rural areas in Australia that don't give the option. I had quick labours with my last two kids and actually delivered Maverick myself in the shower in the time it took for the doctor to run down the corridor, she wasn't able to catch him but he fell on his shoulder and was all right.
Nice to meet you. I may see you around on Bubhub.
Love Fiona

Katherine and Fiona thanks for the welcome.
Fiona, grew up on the North Shore and have been out quite a few times in recent years.
Where abouts are you??
Yes the UK is definately more forward thinking on the homebirth issue, it's getting quite common here and is one of the regular birthing options. So no not just rural areas, though think some parts are coming on, eg. Adelaide.
Wow, Maverick's birth must have been a bit stressful, luckily mine aren't that quick.
I am a bit worried about having another in Oz and not having a homebirth as really don't like hospitals, but will see when/if that happens what my options are.

I'm sorry it took me a while to get back to you Zan. I really hope you will like living over here and having your new baby here..... glad you know the North Shore well so you won't find it so hard to adjust to your move. I am from Narrabri NSW which is about six hours from Sydney, but I have to go to Sydney a few times a year for Maverick's specialist treatment,(he has to get Human Growth Hormone as he is too small for his age.... we haven't started the treatment yet but I will have to inject him with it every day and I will have to take Maverick to a specialist regularly for monitoring of his progress) and maybe when I am in Sydney we could catch up!For coffee or something. :o
I was living in Sydney for a while when I first got married, we worked on the North Shore and I was going to have my oldest son William at North Shore Hospital and I thought it was great when I went for my antenatal appointments (we ended up moving before he was born.) I sympathise with you about wanting a lovely home birth like in the UK, I hope everything goes well for you in the hopspital. I hope to hear from you on Bubhub or you could email me on alitreya@yahoo.com.au. Hope everything goes well for you Zan, all the best.
Love Fiona xxx :o

Fiona thanks for the welcome.
Sounds like a lot of work with Maverick's special needs, hope you don't find the injecting too hard. Though from the people I've know who've had to do it for various reasons it gets easier in time, but to do it to your baby must be hard.
My stepmom had her son at Nth Shore and found it fine so that is an option though may be a bit far from where we will be (though with the way my girls are behaving at the moment def no more, lol!!) I just can't imagine travelling in labour at all after 2 homebirths. my email is zang at bigfoot dot com if you want to email me and def up for a coffee next year.

Holland Park and Devon, sounds ideal! Great that you get to travel back cheaply and easily with dh - how often do you make the trip?
Used to work in North Sydney (world getting smaller?)
Have a good dinner and night, got to think of what to do with my two now esp as the weather here today is looking rubbish.
