View Full Version : how do you stop BF??
I made a decision that I would like to stop BF my two when they turned one. Easier said than done! DD will now take a bottle with cows milk in it but DS flat out refuses it. Then when she see's him having a BF she wants one too. I have tried to cut out the lunch feed and just do morning and evening but they get sooo grizzly mid afternoon that I end up putting them on. I really cant just stop and let them cry for it, its too hard! Does anyone have any advice for me, I think I'm probably going to have to let them self wean but I would love to stop. But I love them more!

My suggestion, do it very very slowly:D
It must be hard with one accepting the bottle while the other one refuses:( so all you can do is what feels right for you.
Good luck:hugs:
ooh have a look at this breast bottle maybe it would help your son accept the bottle?
May trick him int thinking its a breast or maybe not lol its worth a try:D

i know lady that was sunbaking topless with coconut oil on , and her daughter came up and had a suck, and spat it out,, she was 2 but never went back for more...maybeyou could try it with something abit safer than coconut tanning oil...
Hi O&G's mum
I am wondering how the heck I am ever going to get DD off the boob too:confused: I also imagined weaning at 11-12 months but at the moment that seems like an impossible dream as she is still having a night feed:eek:
I am going to get one of the booby bottles that nemosmum posted the link to. A relative in Ireland was using one when I was over there and she swore by it - I have been searching for one here ever since so a big :yelclap: to nemosmum.
I thought that by the time they were 12 months that it dosent really matter if they dont have milk as long as they are having enough fluid and calcium from other sources? Hopefully someone will correct me if this is wrong? So if they drink water and eat cheese and yoghurt you should be o.k.?
Good luck and keep us posted:D

Maybe have a look at the ABA website, they have some info on weaning. All I can say is do it gently!

PMSL... Thats so funny, I have visions of slathering chilli sauce on my boobs!!!
but they WANT it so much. - hmmm yep my DD too! I reckon she'd still want it even with the chilli sauce:laughing: With a little kebab on the side.
