Hi
Just wanted to share with you my new addiction to cloth nappies! After reading through your threads, and doing some research, I have bought a few cloth nappies and am so happy! :D
So far I have 2 sandras and 2 greens (ebay), 2 new sandras and a hemp stuffer, 2 new greens on the way (and 2 hemparoos) and 1 very baby simply nights, a wool cover (OMG I can't remember what sort it is) and hemp & microfibre inserts from darlings downunder.
So far I have used the sandras with the hemp, so happy, waiting on more inserts now! I have a hemp booster thing, what can I put that with so it doesn't leak? I know a few people say the microfibre cleaning cloths, I think I got the wrong ones though? Do you have to wash them much before you use them?
Oh, and has anyone used cushie tushies? I got 2 AIO's but bubs leaks straight through?
Sorry for the long post but I am completely addicted and over the moon.... good bye Huggies!

You can stuff pocket nappies with just about anything that is absorbent, face washer, hand towel etc.
Personally I would wash the inserts before use. A lot of nappy fabrics increase their absorbency after a couple of washes. (I think hemp hits it's peak around 10 washes)
Do your AIO's have PUL or fleece something that acts as a cover? Maybe they are the sort that need a cover, but make sure that then entire nappy is covered, the smallest bit of uncovered nappy allows it to wick out onto clothes or bedding etc.
How did you get a Very Baby Simply Nights? My collection will be complete if I ever get one of those.
It is nice not to have to buy the packet of nappies each shopping trip.

Yes I have one Cushie Tushies nappy and don't seem to have any probs with leaks etc. Mine is the PUL one is that the same as your talking about?
I know a few people say the microfibre cleaning cloths, I think I got the wrong ones though? Do you have to wash them much before you use them?
I've always washed mine before use but usually only one cycle is enough. I prefer the Mother of Eden microfibre (from The WeeWuns) because it just seems to hold more. If you go for the cheap supermarket variety, make sure you get the ones that are a 'terry' weave because they are designed to hold lots of water and not the really flat ones that are mainly for cleaning.

Stupid question... what's terry weave?
My Cushie Tushies say they don't need liners, they have a fleece outer. I actually sent an email to the Michelle (WAHM), she was so helpful. She was really worried until she talked to another of her locals who said that for girls, you need to put the booster right up the back of the nappy. So I'll give that a go.
I got a Very Baby Simply Nights on ebay, it's used but looked in good condition. Are they hard to get on Erica's site? It doesn't look like there's too many there. And there were some on ozebaby for like $70?!?!?
I'm worried about putting a cloth on bub when she does poo (which is 9am on the dot every morning :D ) but I'll have to bite the bullet.... I'm sure it's not as bad as I think!
:) It's just the weave of the fabric into 'terry' loops similar to a flat terry towelling nappy but usually smaller loops. The more loops, the greater the surface area for absorbing liquids.
Congrats on getting an Erica's Simply Nights, they are very hard to come by. Looks like you're into a full fledged addiction

Wow congrats to you on a great collection :yelclap:
I keep saying im going to stop checking ebay but i cant help it
I use the microfibre from Greens & have no dramas with them as i use them through the day alone in their Anytimes which last us 3-4hrs. Then for nite i wrap one in a hemp for the Dreamytimes ( im still sad they are no longer available ! ) & all systems are go ! :D
Seriously the first poo is always the hardest i was freaked as well but Boof caught me one day after changing over by doing his poo early lol so i had no choice & was seriously amazed at how it rolls off ! Its a little bit more yukky when teething or after vax's but overall i cope which is great !
Good luck :)

Not happy Jan
The Simply Nights that I got was listed as size M... on Erica's website it says 7-11kg, but there's no way this is going to fit my 6.7kg bub. It looks more like a newborn size?
I'll have to resell... anyone interested before I put it on Ebay?

Me, me, me please.
What does it look like?
Ally, STOP! :smiliedance: Don't give up yet. when I bought a VBSN in Large I thought it looked small. You will be surprised at how it can fit! IF it really is the wrong size and doesn't fit at all, PLEASE contact Lori. She will want to know and will undoubtedly do all she can to help, she is lovely.
If at any time, anyone has an issue with a nappy they have just bought, please contact the WAHP who sold it to you, maker or retailer, the industry is full of lovely people who just want to help make cloth nappying as easy as possible for you. They know their product inside out, and may be able to give you some tips about how to make it work for you. Others, depending on the problem, might assist with an exchange for another product.

Thanks MOR, problem is that I bought it used off Ebay, otherwise of course I would go back to the WAHM, they are always so helpful.
Sopolicha - I'll try it on bubs when I get back to Melb (Sat), if I still can't work it out I'll PM you!
Yeah, just saw that bit.
Have you contacted the seller and asked about sizing from them? Otherwise there may be a recourse with Ebay for false advertising/description?
Good luck! ;)
