My tried and trusted remedy is a bath with a cup of vinegar in it ! Gets the temp down to a reasonable degree within minutes!;)

Edited to add: this remedy can be used on infants too! Do not use a cold bath, a warm bath will do the same thing!;)

For me it's baby Panadol straight away.

strip them down to basic clothing (singlet and nappy?) - and use a coolish washer on the skin... (I would give a bath to an older child... but Jack is a bit too little... I would have to hop in with him  so the washer is easier for me)

I would also immediately give baby panadol..

good luck - I hope it settles soon

Baby panadol, and if it is high, a tepid bath.

I usually use neurofen because when dd had a high temp she throws up the panadol and put her in a tepid(warm) bath aslo very important to give baby water to keep them hydrated.I know how you feel having a sick bub my dd has tonsilitis and was waking up over the weekend with 39.9 temps and was told if temp goes to 40.5 take them straight to the hospital.Another thing is did they take a urine sample he/she may have a Urinary tract infection dd had one of these a while ago and her temp didnt go down until on meds.If he/she has a temp for more than 3 days take her back to the doctors.

Hi Belinda1000,

Personally I don't go near Panadol or Neurofen. When my bub has ever had a fever I just make sure she has plenty of fluid (or boob if brestfeeding) and don't worry if bub doesn't want to eat much. I find that a tissue salt called Ferr Phos works wonders (you can buy it in most chemists and is a natural remedy).

Remember that a fever is best left to run its course and your bubs immune system will be all the better for it. Although looking after a sick child is tiring.

I go for a tepid bath and strip Liam down to a singlet and nappy.

If it doesn't improve, then i give the smallest dose of Panadol.

my son has seizures if his temp rises so im always paranoid about it. once i saw him (in hospital with a 42 degres temp very scary) nurofen works quicker than panadol , for my son but apparently its individual as to which works better for your child so over the years try both. suppositries (sp) work even quicker. a cool flannel, or tepid bath are good
