Hi

I'm pushing into 28 weeks and recently had my blood taken to assess sugar level. The one you drink some green sugary liduid and they'd take your blood after an hour.

Anyway, my midwife rang up yesterday morning to tell me the results are high. She told me to arrange for another test (some time next week) where I've to fast (only water consumption) from 9pm the night before and come in at 9am the following day for the test. She also mentioned the test will take 2 1/2 hours this time.

I'm a little confused. So do I now have GD or are they still testing? What's happening? Do I start watching what I eat or should I wait til the next testing?:confused::confused:

Oh yes, the second testing was also called a 75g load GTT..??

You first test being high means that your sugar was high but it might have been something you ate before hand. The next test they will take your before during and after the two hours to see how your body reacts to the sugar. Continue to just eat healthy. Don't stress. I had the two hour test with all five babies and never had GD.

Im having mine done in 3 weeks.
From what the midwife told me is if it is high they have to test again to see if it is GD or it could just have been a one off ( just happened to have high sugar result that day)

I wouldnt worry too much, maybe just limit your sugar intake if you are worried.

Hope it was just a one off for you.

Oh thank you for the speedy reply!

Come to think of it, I did have a couple gulps of Coke and a chocolate chip bun prior to the test! Think it could be a one-off? I wasn't told not to eat or drink before the test though.

I hope it's a one-off too! Though both my parents are diabetic so there's a bit of history going on there as well. :(:( Ahh..guess I'll just have to wait and see then. :(
