It's early days but I'm pretty sure I've become a statistic. Looks as though I've fallen pregnant naturally

After years of unsuccessful TTC, I was finally told told I had blocked tubes and needed IVF. We attempted our first cycle of IVF in 2007 which resulted in our much wanted baby girl who was born in June last year (she's only 7 month old).

Seems as though I'm now pregnant...all by myself!!! To say I'm shocked would be an understatement! Still coming to terms with the fact I'll have 2 babies under 2.

Just wanted to see if this has happened to anyone else and particularly wanted some advice on those who have fallen naturally after being told they had blocked fallopian tubes. What is the risk of ectopic pregnancy? If they do find it is ectopic, what measures are usually offered/suggested?

I'm flying blind here

Thanks in advance.

Congratulations!

I have one blocked fallopian tube and one questionable tube. When I fell pregnant (naturally) with my DD, I had a scan at 5 weeks to check that the pregnancy was in the right place. They couldn't see anything except a gestational sac in the uterus and no masses in the fallopian tubes, and that was enough to confirm it wasn't ectopic.

I have heard of this happening before to people with both blocked tubes - something along the lines of the tubes spasming and blocking and unblocking themselves - there's nothing actually in the tube, they're just kind of kinked (like a garden hose) and appear blocked, and then they spasm and un-kink themselves. Something along those lines anyway (I'm no doctor!)

All the best, hope all goes well :)

Hi, Hope everything turns out the very best for you. Just wanted to add my story with blocked tubes. We tried for a year to fall pregnant with no successs, had a lap and found that one tube was twisted and blocked, the other fine. Was referred to fertility treatment, where we were told we had 3% chance of falling pregnant naturally without treatment due to blockage and our age (I was 30, DH 34). We fell pregnant that month. Had an emergency C-section and the ob said that my tubes looked fine, no blockages or twists! Weird! Could have been the weight of the baby untwisting the tube. Hope this helps insire hope for you! All the best.
