Lately ive been paying more attention to my DD's 'babbling' i know i shouldnt but it worries me that alot of the other bubs her age in my mothers group are saying 5+ words clearly. All DD says really is 'dadadada', 'mum mum' and 'nan nan' i hold out her balls and blocks etc n say the words but she just squeels or goes 'ahhh', she babbles alot but i cant distinguish any words forming.
I understand that evey bub developes at a diff pace but i duno, guess i just worry and get paranoid lol

Dada, Mummum and Nan Nan are just fine for 1.

Do keep chatting away to her about everyday things, she will pick it up and understand more of what you are saying as well.

Its ok though if she doesn't say much more for a while, she is only young and she WILL learn while you are talking to her.

Nothing to stress about, I promise. :)
My kids were only saying Mum at that age. ;)

:hugs: sounds like she is doing pretty good to me. and it also sounds like you are doing all the right things to help her.
my ds is almost 14 months and has three words. he has lots of babble. kids develop at different times.
the important thing is she says two words and she is babbling. it wil come. just keep talking to her, repeating to her and reading books to her.

see if she is starting to understand simple sentances. like where is dadda, where is the ball, no. i think comprehension is almost more important. they understand a lot more than you think.
relax and if you are really worried maybe see you chn, or get her hearing tested?

Thanks everyone, i knew that i was just being a worry-wart but still needed a little more reassurance lol
If i ask her where certain things are she will sometimes look at them or point and has also gone through stages of saying 'ta' and 'du' was duck for awhile and also dog but she hasnt said them for awhile now.

*goes to bed n stops worrying* i swear im going to go grey soon, kids....who'd have em!

My Ds3 is 14mths and he says 5 works and babbles all day I am cheering as my other boys didn't speak till 2 - 2 1/2 yrs.
I think he'll be a chatterbox . Ds 1 is the best talker now even though he talked later than all my other friends children.

I agree with the others, your worrying about nothing, its great that she's only saying a few words, most babies that age I know only can say one or two words, so your DD is doing great

my DD is 16mths old, and i'm still waiting for her first word, she does babble alot now so maybe sometime soon lol

My first, DS was really early talker, by 16months he was saying about 30 words clearly and speaking sentences by 2.

Number 2, DD is now 13 months old and pretty much only says mama, dada, nana and ja (for her brother jake).

So i guess every child is different.

I know i read a lot to my first and i really think that helped his development of language.

Oh, and DD does the cutest thing, when she sees the picture of a tiger in her book, she growls - too too cute !
