Hi All,

I've searched some old threads on this topic but just wondering if there is anyone to share their stories and answer a few questions.

I'm calling up my local Traditional Chinese Medicine practitioner tomorrow to make an appointment. I am half way through my TWW and cannot decide whether I should wait until I find out if I get BFN/BFP or just go straight away.

Ive only been TTC for 2 cycles so far, but want to get on top of it instead of waiting for so long to ttc. No harm in getting healthy straight away right?

So what is the process of your first consultation?
How long have you been TTC? Have you seen any results?
What are the costs of consultations and herbs? Do you continue to see them after BFP?
Have you tried acupuncture to induce labour?

Anything else I should know??

And it would be an added bonus if anyone see's someone in the Wollongong area :)

Thanks, Love to hear everyones stories :)

**Also, did you have your partner's support? My DH thinks its a load of croc... and he's too stubborn to listen.

I had accupuncture before and during pregnancy because I had a m/c and I wanted to avoid that next time.

The accupuncture helps with keeping everthing all ok, like body temp, m/s and other pregnancy related issues.

if you need more info let me know.

I know 3 freinds who have have accupunture done while ttc, and they have all had FANTASTIC results. 1 conceived first cylcle, the other 2 within 3 months. All had had miscarraiges:( all went full term with their treatment:)

I think it's definately worth trying!

On another note - I went to my first appt today!

Im almost 33 weeks, and went to a chinese herbalist to have some accupunture done to releive my back ache, and 'get everything right' for labour.

He spent a bit over an hour with me, did some massage on my back, then did some accupunture and moxbostion, i cant remember the exact name! its where the place this stuff on your back and light it, but it doesnt hurt.

My partner is coming back with me in a fortnight to learn techniques for acupressure during labour.

He said that they used acupressure on his wife, and they now swear by it, it helped her heaps.

Let you know in a month and a half how the techniques worked!

Did you feel the back pain relief straight away? And how long is it supposed to last?

That sounds great to learn the accupressure! Id definately want that!

I had really bad m/s so the accupuncture really just helped the gagging but reduced the m/s for a few days

No accupuncture here but had herbs for 6 months. Had been on clomid for 6 months not ovulated with it went to see herbalist he said it woudl take about 3 months for my system to get back into balance..bang to the week of three months I fell pregnant and took the herbs until 13 weeks. Am going to go straight back to him when we want to conceive the next one. ( I had major health issues for past 10 years and am morbidly obese) this is the best I have felt in over 15 years. The herbs are the reason I have a healthy one year old.
It cost me $12.50 per day and tasted like compost but I highly reccomend it.

Great to hear your story, its given me hope :)

The TCM lady also told me to give her 3 months before we need any testing done.

I have herbs in a capsule form, so can't taste a thing! woohoo! And they are really cheap!
About $40 a month.. for 2 different types.

yay :)

I highly recommend Traditional Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture. I'm 25 weeks pregnant with twins and during weeks 4-13 I was terribly sick, It got worse weeks 8-13 and my MIL recommended I try it. It was my life saver!! I could hardly keep anything down including water. Because I was so sick I had to go about twice a week. It also helped with headaches and sciatic nerve pain. She also gave me some herbs to take for the nausea which were wonderful. She told me she seeing a few patients who were TTC.

This is an old thread but I saw your new post - you should seek out the help of Helen Gordon, her practice is called The Menla Clinic it's in the main drag of wollongong I believe. She has been an acupuncturist and herbalist for yonks - she'll get you ovulating!

DO IT DO IT!!

Best thing i have ever done!!

I started acupuncture 3 months ago, My cycles are a bit shorter then when I started.. I love the 'floating' feeling you get when your laying there with the needles in.. Doesn't hurt one bit!

First consultation, went for a couple of hrs, it involved alot of questions etc and then a session of the needles... and the herbs (they r the worst part) They don't taste very nice (Mine are Granulated herbs, I just put them in my mouth and wash them down with some juice of milk!)... My DF was with me for this first consultation.. and many more after that he came and listened to what my specialist had to say... He supports it 100%... and it has shown that is doing something..

I had problems with keeping my temp's up above 36 Degrees.. tihs last month they have been fantastic, so am hoping this is our mth to get our own little munchkin!

My Consultations are 70 dollars and my Herbs are 50 dollars for 2 weeks.. when ringing up and getting prices, I found I went with a lady.. someone who has dealt with fertility issues before.. Someone who deals with the IVF side of it as well.. And we get along really really well... My first few appointments were weekly and now they are fortnightly and have been for a couple of mths now!

HTH... Sorry if it all sounds very confusing, if need be just PM me :)

i did chinese medicine and acupuncture for 5months to fall pregnant because i was not ovulating, not only did she get me to ovulate i fell pregnant on my second cycle. Had a easy pregnancy and gave birth to beautiful boy on the 27th may. My birth was also induced by acupuncture once my waters broke i was in labor for 4 hours 22mins with only gas as pain releif i found i could cope with the contractions alot better this time they were not as intense and i had little recovery compared to my first sons birth.

I am in the nowra area and go to Red Orchad Traditional Chinese medicince and acupuncture have a look on the net for the numbers.

I don't know what she charges, but she's excellent at what she does. I don't understand what you mean by fertility treatments as well? Do you mean IVF or similar fertility treatments or acupuncture fertility treatments?
Acupuncture will help to regulate your cycle by promoting effective ovulations. By doing so you are receiving fertility treatments as these treatments enhance everything to do with conceiving healthy babies. Just book in and ask all your questions, she is extremely nice and will answer things in a way that you will understand (Chinese medicine terms can go over people's head sometimes). You really won't regret it.

Just wanted to pop in and update on my TCM!

I have been seeing Helen Gordon in Wollongong, now for just over a month and she is fantastic! She has a great personality and really knows her stuff!

She says it will take her 3 months to get me 'in shape' and to hold off TTCing for that time. It was hard to agree to put it off for 3 months but I am very happy to if it means a healthy pregnancy!

My cycles were average of 32 days, ovulating on around day 16.
I just finished my very first cycle since seeing Helen, and it was a textbook 28day cycle, ovulating on day 14. I am amazed!
I am really keen for the next 2 months to get more acupuncture and herbs and then hopefully fall preg realy next year!!

I wouldnt be pregnant if it weren't for my chinese herbalist! (funnily enough, happened by accident after we gave up clomid and everything else and decided to have a break for a year! found out the day we moved into our expensive new house that we can't afford now!)

kazandsteve: "i meant that is it still ok while having acupunture to still get the ivi injections as well"

Acupuncture and herbs are both safe during IVF, in fact there are several centres and loads of practitioners who recomend you do so to increase chances of successful implantation after transfer.

good luck!!! xxx

Each person has energy circulation. To maintain good health, it is essential for the body's energy, as well as the blood, to circulate in a continuous or unobstructed manner. The pathways through which the energy flows are called meridians and these circulate through the organs and tissues of the body. The energy which flows along the meridians is called the Qi (Chi). These meridians were mapped out by the ancient Chinese.
