Hiya girls
I had Pre-eclampsia with my last pregancy - got it at 35 weeks, but can't remember how high my BP was. I'm now 32 weeks with number two, there are traces of protein in my urine and my BP is on the rise - between 135/75 and 140/80. I'm just wondering at what stage they'll say enough is enough - either sending me to bed or getting the baby out. Just wish I had some answers.
Cheers

I think 140/90 is considered the upper level of normal in pregnancy.
They are particularly interested in the bottom number and want it to stay under 90.
Yours doesn't sound too bad yet but coupled with protein in the urine is probably something they will just keep an eye on for now.

hi rach, I too had pre eclampsia and it started at 35 weeks, mine started at 120/80 and every time i went to visit, it went up! by 38 weeks it was 120/160 so i was induced.
Ifound that the thing they really worry about is your urates and platelets, which are found in your blood test. if the platelets drop too much and the urates go too high then that rwally counts too, Icant tell you exactly what the limit is coz i cant remember but ask your doc about them.;)

Well i have had pe twice
each time starting further on in the preg. over 90 plus protein is when i think they get serious with you. Odema also. I swell up like a beach ball at the end thanks to that so im predicting the same this time round. Yes platelets they need to watch, you dont want them getting too low when you are in labour due to bleeding and not being able to clot. my platlets were low. really i think its better to talk to your dr but they will keep and eye on platelets, proteing, bp and odeama. Your bp sounds fine at the moment. hope all goes well

Hey... I had high blood pressure with my second pregnancy 140/90 and protien in my urine they said i was borderline and just watched me and I was fine.
With my third though I had full on pre-eclampsia from 30 weeks onwards until BP reached 180/110 and then they whipped baby outta there... well I was induced anyways at 37 weeks. I spent the last 6 weeks in hospital on bedrest cos I lost vision in one eye ... that returned within ten mins of having the baby when my BP normalised.
This time however it is fine... 120/70 so far :)

With my history of Preeclampsia and pregnancy induced hypertension they don't worry anymore unless my bp goes over 150/100 (prepreg and good preg readings are 90/50 for me)
If your bp is normally low they can worry sooner.... 120/80 could be really bad for some.
with my first pregnancy when my bp got to 140/90 I was in a terrible way (with preeclampsia though so not just the bp)
with my second pregnancy however my bp was often 140/90 and I wasnt in a bad way until it was 225/165 though I was much worse off than with my first.
This time my bp is often around 150/100 and I only just start to feel the affects of it then.. I think my body is getting used to it despite needing medication to keep it that low.
Sooo.. what im blabbering on and saying is.. everyone is different.. yes most doctors say 140/90 with the bottom number being the more worrysome one but if you go in there with bp 160/70 and you're normally 110/70 then they're going to be concerned.

Hey gals
Just wanted to say thanks for all that info! My BP seems to be fluctuating quite a lot but from what you are saying it's not really dangerously high yet! Suppose my doctors would do something if they were really worried.
Cheers
