So Sad :crying:
Two toddlers who drowned in a water tank have been buried holding hands in the same coffin, which their father says will ensure they're as inseparable in death as in life.
Two-year-olds Lachlan Travis Stecca and Emily Jessica Stecca died on May 19 in a tragic accident in the Adelaide Hills.
The twins were at their grandparents' Mount Torrens property when police believe they climbed a ladder next to a two-metre high rainwater tank.
Police believe the twins were playing on top of the tank when their weight collapsed its cover and they subsequently drowned.
Their father, Roger Stecca, told about 500 mourners at the twins' funeral in Adelaide on Monday that Lachlan and Emily had been placed in the same red coffin, holding hands.
Mr Stecca said he and his wife Kathryn chose the colour red because it would be faster than other coloured coffins on the way to heaven.
"They certainly had their own personalities," Mr Stecca told the funeral.
"They were very good, they always were together, they shared virtually everything.
"They gave us more than we ever expected ... I know they are happy now."
Their grandfather, Murray Lenger, who found the twins, was inconsolable at the funeral, overseen by Father Sean Smith.
"They were inseparable right throughout life," Father Smith told mourners.
"They wouldn't be happy unless we placed them in a coffin together, side by side, holding hands."
Police are preparing a report for the coroner on the deaths of the twins, the only children of Mr and Mrs Stecca.
